Crytek giving Free Radical 'dream projects'

Crytek founder and CEO Cevat Yerli has told Develop that its newly acquired UK studio – formally Free Radical – is being given projects that the team has "always dreamed to do".

"We are working with Free Radical on things that they always dreamed to do" Yerli said. "We are providing the team a roadmap and the chance to grow, which is why we were picked as a partner, and not anyone else."
Yerli did not confirm what these projects were.

Crytek is smart company. More than likely this means Timesplitters 4 will be coming first from them. Who knows we might see a renewed under the table deal for BattleFront 3 to reemerge. Haze sequel also has a chance to live in a new light. Only if its done right though.

Personally I dont get the mentality that bad games shouldnt get sequels. They should be the first to get sequels just to redeem themselves.

I would love to see a sequel to Haze, well above Timesplitters 4. While Timesplitters is a great game, Haze still has potential. The game might've been average at best, but the story is interesting enough to really achieve that unique gritty-FPS feeling that begs the question on war morality.

For one thing, Mantel Corp. has alot of potential as an antagonist and a protagonist.

1. Not Haze 'cause is on the basis of their financial failure. Unluky project at least.
2. not TimeSplitter because as a fourth iteration of the IP it can't be so "exciting" for the team

For some Timesplitters 4. I loved the second on my PS2 but if they announce TS4 on the Xbox 360, I'd love it. Xbox Live + TS4 would be great in my eyes.

Why would you invest in a team of talented artists and programmers that would make whatever u tell them to make.. hmm .. lemme think.

it has nothing to do with their past failures or wins. It has to do that its a proven team of talented EXPERIENCED developers that you could hire to make your future titles. And possibly have all the rights to any titles they have created for future sequels and a fanbase that already exists for those titles.

I wonder if it could be the "Haze" version Free Radical wanted to make. They said they had plans to take Haze another way but Ubisoft did not want it like that so FR came out with a different version of Haze then was originally planned.

I do hope Crytek will help make the old FR team be able to bring out Time Splitters 4. I really wonder what would be added to the game with the engine Free Radical made plus the one Crytek made and combining
them to make an even better engine would allow.

If this is a whole new IP I can't wait to find out what it will be.

well hopefully crytek will give them the help and freedom to make what they want. I can imagibe ubisoft were peobably a little forcefull with haze...
