Sonic once was the biggest challenger of Nintendo, and reason for many discussions in school. Mario was gay, Sonic was cool. At this moment Sonic is little more than an average game character that gets to appear in even more average games. And this while Sega according to us and so many fans has to do only one thing: make a 2D hi-def successor to the first Sonic game. Luckily we could find some small comfort in Sonic Rush Adventure on the DS.

Actually I am in my 20's and have gone back and played many of the Sonic games made, personally I find a lot of the older games to be absolutely awful with a particular nod to the original Sonic the Hedgehog. I know a good game when I play it and the games on my list and ones that are truly great and the pinnacle of the Sonic experience.
Well. I guess an opinion is an opinion.
But just because you can't make it through a game doesn't make it bad.

1. Sonic Adventure
2. Sonic 2
3. Sonic and Knuckles
4. Sonic 3
5. Sonic the Hedgehog 1991
That's pretty much my list, only I'd put S&K and Sonic 3 at 1 and 2. And maybe drop Adventure for Sonic Chaos for GameGear/Master System, I had so much fun with that game.

Being a Sonic fan for a majority of my life, I’ve played nearly every Sonic game that’s ever existed. As such, I’ve played each game so many times that I’ve even began collecting them as of recently. Doing so, I’ve had the opportunity to play games I haven’t even looked at in several years.
I’ve never been big on the classic Sonic games, or really anything before 1999 when Sonic Adventure for the SEGA Dreamcast was released, so don’t expect to see anything before then in my list. To celebrate Sonic the Hedgehog’s 24th anniversary, here are my top 10 favorite Sonic games of all time.
