Apple cuts ten per cent of retail workers

Latest SEC filing reveals 1,600 full-time sales positions went at vendor during second quarter.

Apple has cut around ten per cent of its workforce during the second quarter of 2009, according to documents released to the Securities and Exchange Commission.

According to the document, Apple cut its full-time workforce from 15,600 to 14,000 during the second quarter. It is unclear if the retailer made the roles redundant or shifted them to part-time positions.

You really think a few localised commercials over the last few weeks have had such a knock on effect? More likely, just like pretty much every company the recession has hit them hard and they're "trimming the fat".
