2D Ocarina of Time creator dies in car accident

The creator of the 2D fan remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Daniel Barras (Dampe), recently passed away in a fatal car accident. Daniel devoted himself to the OoT2D project for months, pausing only when he joined the military. Upon his return he resumed work and promised a demo would be released soon. With his death, the game, the official OoT2D webpage as well as the forums are closed forever.

Daniel's project was ambitious. He was so committed to creating a faithful reproduction it's rumored he was including glitches found in the original gold cart version of the game. A video from late last year shows the game in action.

Joystiq has no idea what they're talking about. The creator's name was Richard Denton, not Daniel.

To all of you younger memebers here(younger meaning teenage and under), take a good look at all of your friends and realize that one on them will innevitably die before reaching age 30-35 due to whatever fate. Yeap, that's the grim reality of life.

As for Daniel Dampe, he's made his mark in the video game industry and lets all give a moment of acknowolegement to him before we eventually forget the name Daniel Dampe.
