Sony's Greatest Failing of this Generation

Andrew Weymes of The Nightly Gamer writes: "Without a doubt, Sony stumbled through their first couple of years with the Playstation 3. Hyped exclusives weren't reaching the popularity that they should whether it be among critics or the gaming community. The high price point wasn't helping anything either and with the Xbox 360 offering more well received exclusives and a better online network, things weren't looking great for a company that dominated the console wars last generation with the Playstation 2. However, most of this is in the past and Playstation 3 loyalists have had a lot to smile about as of late. The Playstation 3 has an amazing first party line-up of games and the quality of multiplatform games are up to par with those found on the Xbox 360. Things are certainly looking up for the Playstation 3 but there is one area in which it falls short when compared to the Xbox 360."

will grow more and more,I hope it's not only more spaces and simple rewards but big rewards, trophy room, some cool functionalities, big rewards like obtaining an arcade in your house for earning x trophies or have bigger house, more minigames, more special spaces like xi,connect home with the game itself

to me home will be HUGE,don't forget that more than 24 3rd party companies working on home

MrWeymes5479d ago

The only thing that I was ever looking forward concerning HOME was the trophy rooms. The fact that they weren't included with the launch of HOME was disappointing and the fact they still aren't present upsets me. I really don't know what I am supposed to do in HOME. Perhaps I should take up stalking female avatars? lol

ape0075479d ago

yep a trophy room will be the most attractive thing in home

MrWeymes5479d ago

I hope they have custom soundtracks by the time the trophy rooms are available. I really don't want to stand around in silence showing off the reason that some girls don't like me.

Marceles5479d ago

They aren't going to have custom soundtracks like the 360 since MS patented it. It'll have to be developer implemented since Sony won't be able to do it firmware wise because of the patent

Anything with a PS in front of it just doesn't feel right to you!

jadenkorri5478d ago (Edited 5478d ago )

it takes about 50 reports to remove an anti ps3 blog/post/article, but yet 360 reported 10 times is removed... so this article is like 30+ reports only like 20 more...

Seems that Sony's so-called failings and sales numbers in the US (not the world, mind you) are the most important things in the entire video game industry.

At least, that's the impression I get every time I visit the internet.

...NEWS 4 GAMERS...not so sure anymore

FlameBaitGod5479d ago (Edited 5479d ago )

Well i cant blame N4g much, in part yes but journalism has gotten really low, to the part where they have to write flame bait articles to get hits, they don't even do research, I really doubt that guy has gone to Home, it always has a lot of people in it so how can it be a failure. If they did a search on which console is selling faster, in the same time frame, they would know PS3 is doing better.

popcan5479d ago

Oh, the plummeting hardware sales should also be mentioned

MrWeymes5479d ago (Edited 5479d ago )

Hardware sales are pretty irrelevant to me. I care about things that actually affect me as a gamer. HOME was hyped up endlessly and I really don't see its relevance to me as a gamer. Unless I am really devoid of social interaction, I usually just use my Playstation 3 for serious gaming or watching Blu Rays.

I'm not saying this to be rude but could someone explain to me what they enjoy about HOME and what they use it for?

GWAVE5479d ago

@ MrWeymes

HOME on the PS3 serves the same purpose as cross-game chat does on the 360. Well, HOME is also free and has some customization, but they're the same basic service.

halo3_640p5479d ago

PS3 sold 23m in 2 years and 3 months

x360 sold 20m in 2 years and 3 months at half the price of the ps3

everyone report the article as Fake/lame/spam

plus x360 is the least selling console in WW sales being dead in both Japan and europe

ThanatosDMC5479d ago

Home vs NXE's Avatars = Epic Phail.

What does the competition have against Home so much?

Cheeseknight285478d ago

Probably the fact that Home is so pointless. Why bother using it when you could be playing a game instead?

Since when were Avatars the answer to Home? That's just about the most ridiculous thing I've heard all day.

Wow, same old soup. PS3 bad here, PS3 bad there... internet has become very boring, can't find anything interesting, only copy-paste of everything else you can find around (over all when it's about Sony and PS3).
I'm not saying it's all false or those craps, i'm saying that's a bit boring reading the same things over and over.
I'm only sorry for those ppl who live on sales numbers and so, it's something very sad.

Tales Of Graces Ƒ Retro Review – Holding Out For a Hero

Gary Green said: Namco Bandai heard the call of many fans asking for the PlayStation release of Tales of Graces which was originally released seemingly exclusively for the Wii back in 2009. If you’re acquainted with the Tales series then Graces f won’t be something entirely new to you, yet if you’re a newcomer then you’ll find a plethora of gameplay mechanics and nuances that distinguish this series from other JRPGs. While the game finds itself following the traditional archetype of JRPGs, such as a somewhat clichéd story, Graces has something to offer to both veterans and newcomers alike.

It's A Crime That There's No Sleeping Dogs 2 Yet

Huzaifah from eXputer: "Sleeping Dogs from the early 2010s is one of the best open-world games out there but in dire need of a resurgence."

LG_Fox_Brazil2d ago

I agree, I consider the first one a cult classic already

isarai2d ago

You say "yet" as if it's even possible anymore. United Front Games is gone, along with anyone that made this game what it is

CrimsonWing692d ago

That’s what happens when games sell poorly. And I’ve seen people wonder why people cry when a game sells badly… this is your answer.

solideagle2d ago

Majority of the time it's true but if a company/publisher is big (in terms of money), they can take a hit or 2. e.g. I am not worried about Rebirth sales as Square will make Remake 3 anyway but if FF 17 doesn't sell then Square might need to look for alternative. <-- my humble opinion

Abnor_Mal2d ago

Doesn’t Microsoft own the IP now since they acquired Activision?

DaReapa1d 23h ago

No. Square Enix owns the IP.

Abnor_Mal1d 21h ago

Oh okay, Activision owned True Crime, but when that didn’t sell as intended it was canceled. Six months later Square Enix bought the rights and changed the title to Sleeping Dogs.*

*As per Wikipedia

boing12d ago (Edited 2d ago )

Sleeping Dogs was a sleeper hit back then. It was fantastic. It actually still is. Would love a sequel to this, or at least a revive of True Crime series.
