Portable Gamer Review | Hammerin' Hero

The Portable Gamer writes:

"You would be forgiven if you didn't understand the big deal of what Hammerin' Hero is. Your character's movements are stiff, the plot is laughable and the game can seem cheaply difficult at times; why would anyone want to play this antiquated relic of a game?

It's these very so-called antiquated elements of the game that endear old-school platformers to people, and this game is a must-play for those fans."

Wow, yeah! I might have to give this a look. How did this one fly by me? I don't remember hearing anything about it

The PSP could use a good platformer like this. Great review guys!

Very well written review. I agree with @CrAppleton, the PSP has been lacking in the platformer department for some time now, so it's nice to see something like this

Carter has some funny comments on the screen shots

CrAppleton3791d ago

Actually they are pretty damn funny.. Good job Carter

This game looks like it's very retro.. almost reminds me of something that you would find on the SNES.. no?

Neco5123791d ago

I suppose it sort of reminds me of the good ol' SNES days. Solid platforming done at its best

looking at the review, one of the cons is lack of replay value. That might be an issue, as this game looks like the type that you'd play once and be done with it

No different than any other platform game. I think it depends on how much you enjoy the first run-through.. if you like it.. then there's no reason not to run through it again.
