OXCGN Review- Itagaki presents The Dishwasher: Dead Samurai

OXCGN writes: "Since the excellent Ninja Gaiden 2, gaming has been bereft of hardcore slice and dice titles. And yet in the absence of the master, The Dishwasher: Dead Samurai's release is something that would surely make even Tomonobu Itagaki grin ear to bloody ear."

Or have I been hiding under a rock? I haven't even heard of this game before and it's like mega hyped. Will have to check it out.

But as the article points out, Microsoft has a lot riding on this one. If it fails it'll be a substantial blow to their ambitions with XNA and the Community Games channel.

A while ago, before we were able to try out the community games. MS had the top 6-8 XNA community games out for demo. You had to download something and then download the games after. It was kind of tricky so alot of people didn't get to try them out. It took me a while to figure it out.

Dish washer was one. They also had one where you had a planet that you had to cover with different flowers to pass the level. The other games I don't remember. It was all part of that contest to win some cash reward.

Looks like a lot of fun...for awhile...

I think I'd love it for a few minutes and then get tired of it.

Yeah I got it. and tend to agree with reviewer. It's good, just not Alien Hominid, Castle Crashers good. :D

Love the gore though!

agreed, i'd get bored after 5 minutes... but it would be a good 5 minutes lol

This is what I thought too, but the gameplay is actually quite deep, and the difficulty forces you to use that depth. I've gotten about 9-11 hours of gameplay out of it so far and I still have about 5 hours to go (I've finished the story on normal, and the 50 arcade levels, and I'm just starting the story on samurai. Normally I wouldn't bother but the enemy spawns are different and extra bosses are thrown in so it still feels new). One of the best value games on XBLA.

Sounds gory :)

Offtopic: When the hell are other countries getting XNA games?
