Junkie Monkeys: At the beginning of the month, we shared a pretty cool idea started by a group of Warhawk’s finest. In an nutshell, this group has called for past and present Warhawk players/fans to hop on their PlayStation 3 and play Warhawk. This group hopes to send a message to Sony by showing that there is still interest in Warhawk and would like them to pursue a PlayStation 4 version. The campaign has gotten a lot of buzz over the week, hell, even Dylan Jobe & LightBox made a commemorative t-shirt for the cause!
Considering the long term success of Warhawk and advancements in that type of game I would be very surprised if we didn't see one.
I am picturing it in my head. It is beautiful.
It is one of the best multiplayer experiences of all time. You'd need to play it to understand. Dedicated community, great gameplay, vehicles including the awesome Warhawk, and massive massive maps.
I'd go as far to say it is Sony's most important multiplayer game and IP.
Back in the whole "PS3 has no games days" this was one of the shining underrated gems produced for the PlayStation 3. The game is extremely well balanced, addicting, and very rewarding. You should play it at least one time for the experience.
It was one of the early good PS3 games. Game mode wise there was nothing really special about it but it was and is just a good and fun multiplayer game.
What made Warhawk so special was its simplicity and variety. The game wasn't complicated, there was no special crafting systems or whatever that you had to learn, you could just pick it up and play it, taking whatever role you felt like you wanted to do and no matter what you chose, it would have an impact on the battle. If you wanted to just take a Jeep and drive it from base to base and take them over, that was okay. Maybe you felt that you wanted to claim one base and defend it against all who came? That was okay too. If you wanted to grab a Warhawk and and never set foot on the ground again, that was also perfectly okay. All of which you'd be rewarded for, high KDR or not. It had the perfect mix of easy to pick up and difficult to master that made it approachable to pretty much anyone.

I loved Warhawk. The map sizes, maps, and vehicles were all balanced.
Starhawk was good but it "became" complicated with having to "build". I liked it, but not alot did.
I think the game would of been more popular is they that part out- and weakened the star hawks.
Halo/Call of duty is popular because it was simple to pick up. Call of duty expanded on that idea, and made it too easy to kill and use the carot on a stick reward system.
If Warhawk 2 adds an unlock system that didn't mess with the balance (say just attachments and costumes) - then it would be a hit.
It's only one of the best multiplayer experiences of last generation. It's funny that today is Warhawk Day, because I didn't even know that but last night I reinstalled the game on a whim. Great game.
It's basically a fun versions of Battlefield 4 multiplayer.
Tanks, Jets, Jeeps, Trunks, Cargo Carriers, Jet packs, and a huge array of crazy weapons.
One of the best multiplayer of last gen IMO.
Just a reminder. It's like $2 for a decent used copy on Amazon. I bought a few for friends this week.
Junkie Monkeys: Every now and then we hear about developers who are truly appreciative of fan support. Certain developers will even go the extra mile to give something back to the fans. LightBox Interactive recently did something great for fans in support of Warhawk Day.
Seriously! Both Warhawk and Starhawk should make their way to PS4!! Great multiplayer games!
Edit: I liked it! It had a different setting and the mechanics for the game were perfect for it. The RTS elements in the game are cool. A new Warhawk would be awesome too!
Starhawk was bad and should never be repeated the dev team didnt listen to any feedback we gave and it pissed me off.
I had high hopes for starhawk but I think the technical limitations of the ps3 held it back. Then there was the total lack of teamwork which in a game where you have limited resources to build equipment meant that you could easily be overwhelmed because one player decided to build a ton of stuff just for their personal use.
Now as for warhawk they need to either remake it on ps4 or make a true sequel with the same gameplay as the original (ps3 version) I'd kill for that. Warhawk and ps+ were the only reasons I even considered not trading in my ps for ps4. Let's hope we get it eventually.
Thing is that the Warhawk you want is likely different from the one I want.
Namely a steampunk adventure with flying battleships and air-fortresses you have to board and 'sink' from the inside.
That's not what I want from Warhawk but I'd still play that and it would probably be awesome regardless! Starhawk was awesome just wasn't Warhawk awesome!
It was what the very first Warhawk was. Though more a retro 50s sci-fi via the best FMV the 80s could deliver.
I wonder when Sony will start releasing their big multiplayer only titles again. Warhawk and MAG were both really surprising releases last gen. I want to see them do more stuff like that.

I thought lightbox wasn't around anymore. Does that mean we may get a proper sequel instead of that disappointing Starhawk
Remake warhawk - keep it mostly the same. New maps, prettier graphics and take out normal flight. Pro flight ftw :D

Also, bring back motion controlled flight. Easily the best implementation of the sixaxis.
Junkie Monkeys: If you love Warhawk, then you are going to love this cause created by a handful of gamers trying to persuade Sony to produce a Warhawk 2.
I would love to play a sequel just like the first game on the PS4, hell I would like to play Warhawk on PlayStation Now if it's possible.
They essentially tried Warhawk 2, and it was called Starhawk.
Long story short, the game was pretty awful. I loved Warhawk and it was my first ever online game, I still sport a Warhawk avatar which has been on my PSN account going on 7 years now. The game was absolutely ingenious for how simple it was.
But since Incognito split up into two different developers (LightBox Interactive, and Eat Sleep Play), LBI failed miserably to try and resurrect the Warhawk IP. And even though it was a 'spiritual successor' to Warhawk and not a true successor, it was the best they could do and it was absolutely terrible. Pretty much anything that could go wrong with a game, went wrong. And LBI made all the wrong moves.
I am pretty sure LBI is going to be shutting their doors (if it hasn't already happened), SH had absolutely pathetic sales and I doubt Sony would risk another game with them. Eat Sleep Play, the other half of Incognito, at least got about 700k sales with Twisted metal in 2012, whereas SH only got 250k.
I hate to say it, but the Warhawk series ended with Warhawk. Incognito is no more and Lightbox Interactive has proven they don't have what it takes to make a worthy sequel to Warhawk.

I tried star hawk but to me it sucked
That built a base thing looks good on paper but just didn't work
It was almost impossible to get in the base
And the maps were pretty crappy as well as the robot(I prefer hover mode)

i'm not much of an online MP gamer, but when i got into the Warhawk beta i became obsessed with the game. it was so much fun and i had never experienced warfare on that scale with so many players.
it was amazing....please bring it to PS4

I remember playing the original Warhawk for the PS1 and I was blown away by it. Such a fantastic game, I barely played the sequel because of it's departure but I heard it was good.
I barely remember Starhawk though, I do remember the hype for the game but when released it quickly died.
Starhawk was fun but ps3's Warhawk was just a blast it was perfectly balanced.I mean a expert foot solider was just as powerful as a tank are a warhawk. Pilots didn't have to be expert's to have fun in the warhawks but experts could own you.It was one of those games you just had fun playing even when you where out numbered.
I would love another but they better put the knife on the weapon wheel. Knife fights where just addictive crazy fun.

The original game was incredible on the PS1. I would love a sequel. Hell, I just want any next gen flight combat game. War Thunder is OK, but I want something single player. Ace Combat, IL3, Airforce Delta, etc... I would even be happy with a PS4 port of the iOs flight combat games. We need to be able to use PC or PS3 force feedback flight sticks.
And the games you're talking about are not the Warhawk anyone else is talking about. It is not the Warhawk of the article.
Though I'd love to see a GTA version of the PS1 Warhawk. GTA mechanics set in on a steampunk world.
Note: These could very well be concept art for Warhawk 2 on the PSOne, that never made it into development and not Warhawk 2 for the PlayStation 3.
I would love a warhawk in space
Warhawk 2 would be a day 1 purchase for me, i have had more re-play value out of warhawk than any other game i have !
Goes to show, SP in a game isnt everything when the online is done so well.
Id like to see maybe some water vehicles in warhawk 2, or some other different things like that.
If it is set in space, that will be great ! very different from the first game, so the 2 could easily co-exist with eachother, plus there could be endless things they could build since they arnt bound by "real-world" laws etc. (like gravity, speed of objects etc)
but after playing the demo, I know this its gonna be awesome. I'm also a long time Incognito fan. Twisted Metal FTW.
