IGN AU's Pre-E3 2009 Predictions

E3 2009 kicks off again on June 2 this year – and while that's still a couple months off, IGN AU has layed its cards on the table and made a few educated guesses about what might be shown. As always, IGN will be there in full force to bring you the world's best, most in-depth content from the show floor as it happens, and IGN AU will be doing additional content from the show too.

This year's Pre-E3 Predictions, as in previous years', hinges around percentage chances. To that end, we've added our percentage chance next to the subject of each guess to provide a little more depth to proceedings.

i know ur tryin to share but i don't want it on 360 mgs is too huge of a franchise to lose in this generation where exclusives make the console...i have nothing against multiplats but exclusivity makes software just that much more special.

Normally, I'd agree, but it's been almost a year. Mostly everyone that wanted to play this game already have. Let 360 fans who don't play beyond experience this masterpiece.

Besides, look at their release calendar this year. They need it.

Why not? Its shame not all people can experience Snakes story. For me MGS4 obliterated every decent Movie and Game ever made in history in terms of cinematography, plot and character development. Only certain anime series would dare touch it namely Ghost in the Shell, DeathNote, Gundam 00, Evangelion etc..

They only reason I wouldn't want this game on another system is for it to get gimped just to be released on the same time. As long as its done and perfected on the best system first and then ported to other systems I dont mind...

for sure, Mag, uncharted 2, WKC, Ratchet and Clank Future:ACIT, GOW3, Heavy Rain, MotorStorm 3<--Trust me on that one, Twisted Metal another behind closed doors showing at GDC last week which i saw, 2 game reveals from Sony Japan 1 that was shown behind closed doors at GDC which i was sooo privaligded to focus test for 5 months and the next is Fumido Ueda-san's Team Ico number 3

My Goodness. it's a damn shame i'll be on deployment and not with my focus group this E3... :( still the fire works are gonna be outrageous this year at Sony's booth and those who go in Home will be to visit E3 this year virtually.. oh yeah.. The motorstorm space launches around the same time as well. ^^

Honestly, if that's what actually happens at E3 I'll be bored to effin tears!

I really pray that MS have got more than yet another cherry picked exclusive to show us as well, and no I don't mean a Rare game that you can play with your crappy avatar(seriously who in the whole wide world-much less the crowd on Live who bay for blood more than any-wants that? WHO?)-why can't they let Rare make another proper game? I'm not joking there wasn't one thing in what IGN think MS will do that interested me and that's a worry-surely it can't be that poor? I want games for my 360. I guess there'll also be a KH announcement though but that still falls into the uber dull payed for franchise dept like FF13 last time, they must do more this year.

Sony will do something big and it's hard to put your finger on what as all the internal studios near the end of their dev cycles AND we know the PSP2 is coming. So Sony is pure guess work when they've loads it could be-still doubt they'll cut the price of PS3 though.

Nintendo will annoy everyone again by promising fireworks then filing to say anything about an games anyone cares about. If we're lucky they might let us know that Zelda's next installment is on the horizon but I can't ever see the KI announcement coming. Otherwise I can''t see much Ninty will have to say.

I hope I'm wrong(and I pray IGN AU are!)and that this year we see original games coming from MS/Rare/Valve or whoever for 360 and not just more old PS2 franchises gone multi. I also hope Nintendo change their habits and tell us something good and I think Sony have too much to tell and as a result will mess up saying what they've got, confuse everyone and damage sales(again). But I know nothing so, hey, who cares? I still feel I'm more near the mark than IGN though.

I see MGS4 on 360 is STILL being predicted... how many years has it been now? Every year I hear the same thing from them.

In all seriousness, an MGS4 Substance edition going multiplatform (360 exclusive? Bah, not happening) would be fine by me, and actually welcome. Why? Because it means MGS4 for PS3 would get trophies and more content, bring on the VR missions! I would definitely upgrade.

It would also be hilarious (and petty, yes, but predictable) to watch the fanboys flipflop because now its not a big deal that they are the ones getting "leftovers" and "it's just an overrated movie" no longer applies eh? But I digress, the more people that can enjoy the ending to the one of the greatest franchises of all time, the better.

I want to see the math they used to predict an 80% chance of MGS4 on 360. No one has even been discussing the possibility of that since late last year so either someone at IGN UK heard something or the authors have their heads in the clouds.

Also, E3 is two months away, what is this crap the lead up to the lead up of pre-E3 coverage?

Sony to spring FW 2.8 on us during their keynote and will release it that evening, just like the US video store update. BUT... this will include all the features we are craving, like voice chat partys etc.

We already have an option for cross game audio chat, but it is greyed out, it will be active around E3 I think.

But E3 will mark one year that the US has had a video store, and we everywhere else STILL don't have one.

Yes good points MrJack, why have we not got the video store in PAL regions, its crazy. And yes, they are teasing us with the ingame audio chat "greyed" out!! IF Sony can announce and release firmware 2.8 with features thats one step ahead of the 360 ( 360 has 6 person party chat - ps3 to have 10 to maybe 15, like their text chat lobbies??) it would be HUGE and a show stealer for sure. We all know PS3's hardware/games blow 360 out of the water technically and visually, we just need the online component to do the same, and where better to implement and announce :)....
