Blend Games: For the longest we've been receiving shovel-ware and underwhelming Wii titles, strangely with the exception of anything published by Sega. However, Detn8 Games has released news regarding the upcoming high-end racing title for the Nintendo Wii, boasting good graphics and intense gameplay.
I have to admit, this is one of the first times I've read a press release for a Wii game where they're actually proud of the game's visual presentation. In fact, Det8n Games and Awesome Play stated that the game will be "graphically stunning". I'm a bit stoked knowing that developers have actually put some time into a Wii title and there's actually going to be some effort put into the graphical front of the game.
The Wiire writes: "Speed Zone is an arcade racing title that focuses on, as all racing games should, speed. There are three different modes to the game, each having players racing, fighting, or blasting their way to first place. The game instantly throws players into the action, starting them out with a base amount of money, which is used to purchase a car. More money is made throughout the game by completing objectives or beating track times. These objectives are specified by each course. Once a selection is made, and a vehicle purchased, players will be able to choose from a range of courses in any of the three modes."
Wii's World writes: "The racing genre has seen its fair share of unique, thrilling, and innovative input. However, for every well-made, interesting racer there are ten bland, broken, and/or unvaried games. These try to inspire, try to copy, and try to break out of the wall of containment that keeps these games from being good. Unfortunately, they do not succeed. Speed Zone, developed by Awesome Play and published by Detn8, is another racer trying to be something, but ultimately comes sub-par to its potential. "
Speed Zone is a furiously fast and silky smooth futuristic racing game, running at a bar-raising 60 frames per second with terrains set on colorful planets, floating asteroids, and space stations. Speed Zone features three core game modes - Solo, Race, and Battle – each with multiple goals and a progressive, level-unlock structure.
