By now you've probably seen the news about OnLive, the new "cloud game computer" that streams a game to your TV/PC in real time from a server. (It's basically the PS3 "Remote Play" technology done on a grand HD scale). The technology is impressive over a good broadband connection for the PC, Mac, or via a "microconsole" that hooks up to a TV.
But could OnLive work on a gaming console?
From the mid-1980s to the early part of the 2000s, light gun rail shooters were a staple in both arcade and home system gaming. Arguably, the genre started to really hit its stride in the mid-1990s. While games like Time Crisis, Virtual Cop, and House of the Dead, among others, dominated both the home system and arcade space, some one relegated to only home game systems. Today, we’ll be talking about a little-known cult game published by Sony called Project: Horned Owl. This game was developed by Alfa Systems, and all in all, this is a fun game.
Game Rant interviews Plants vs. Zombies composer Peter McConnell about honoring the series’ quirky roots, adapting its themes, and now going vinyl.
The score for the first Plants Vs Zombies is such great, iconic music that it has a timeless quality. Not quite the level of Minecraft, but wonderful in its own right.
Celebrate Final Fantasy IX's 25th anniversary with the latest merchandise, including figurines of Zidane and Vivi, and a range of t-shirts.
There is absolutely no reason why it couldn't - but what would be the point?
I can imagine PC gaming bumping up in sales if they did that. Not to mention that it'll give gamers access to a crapload of games. I'd be all over that since I don't have a gaming PC.
They've invested A LOT of money into XBL this gen, they're not going to discontinue the service and adopt another one that's not even made by them.
If anything, the question should be which one of these 2 companies will buy it,because if this Onlive business can become feasible within the next 5 years you can bet your ass both of these guys will want it.
Screw the Xbox and it Laggy online Service(Which Really Really Sucks)
I think MS & Sony will slow down their console R&D department, until they know where Onlive will be going.
