Rumour: Wolfenstein PC version dropped?

VG247: Activision released a new trailer of Raven's Wolfenstein this morning, and pretty damn sensational it looked too. One thing, though: there's no PC or Games for Windows logo listed in the game's platforms at the end.

There seems to be logos all about the official site...

Not to mention that the notion of having a Wolfenstein FPS game not appear on PC is ridiculous.

Elven65513d ago

@1.1: They said that with Call of Duty as well and look what Activision did their.

@Elven6

Unless I'm much mistaken, Call of Duty 4 and World at War are on PC.

SiLeNt KNighT5513d ago

this is dumb. i guarantee its coming out for pc also. i should be getting a free copy soon. cod4 and w@w ARE on pc...

Elven65513d ago (Edited 5513d ago )

I was more so referring to the COD 3 controversy but I guess I should have made it clearer.

JsonHenry5513d ago

Might as well. After watching the gameplay video the game looks so bland and watered down because of the PS3/X360 versions this game will never have a proper PC (high end) release as it did in the past.

This franchise is heavily rooted in the PC community. Activision could conceivably be missing out on at least a third of its sales if they didn't release a PC one...

i reckon most pc gamers own a console. return to castle wolfenstein is one of my favourite FPS and i'll be getting the new one on ps3. i dont constantly kid myself that pc is better than the consoles just for a slight unoticeable improvement in graphics. also pc controls, although good, are very over-rated.

People dont like to hear it but the days of superior pc FPS are over. All that is left for pc superiority is RTS.

JsonHenry5513d ago

I disagree. Every advance in your console games is a direct result of it being done on a PC first. Including your fancy "next-gen" graphics, physics, and online support.

It all started on the PC. The only time that the PC MIGHT be in trouble is if Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo pull their heads out of their asses and allow for full KB+M support as a control scheme.

But then again PC gamers will be enjoying the next best thing while consoles get the last 5 years worth of PC development.

Until there is unbridled access to user generated content on consoles, then PC will stay the home of the FPS.

They are underrated really stewart. More than 172 million PCs are in the world and in consumer hands. No Console has topped over 100 million consoles worldwide. Hell you could add all console sales together and you will barely skin around that number. 172 million active PCs though vs. how many consoles sold? Keyboard and mouse is universally better than any controller. It can be remapped as well in any game. It has more than 50-100 buttons.

PC will always have FPS Superiority. For many reasons. One being game mods. We can play old games remade into mods on a good modern game engine. Like Golden Eye mod for HL2. Another being Free SDK for all. So not only do we get mods we have free levels. Also we have old keyboard and mouse. Mouse is 1000 times more accurate than any stick on a controller.

Also with a PC game. Game slowing down or can't run well just pop in a new $100 graphics card and your good for another 4 years. Instead of buying a new console for $400-500 bucks.

PC will always have first crack at the good stuff as well. Every time something new comes along it has been sampled on PC before its made its way to consoles.

Only way consoles can EVER match PC is if they allow full mods, Free Level editors/levels to download, allow mouse+keyboard, and have a big OS in the background that allows us to do everything we would do on a PC. Thus making the console a PC anyway. Sony has renamed what its system is since the PS2 was around. They started calling it a computer entertainment system. Which it is in a way and its getting closer to a PC every generation.

Before they make an article, blog, or website

I found the trailer to be rather horrible not "sensational". Graphics were mediocre, frame-rate was horrible and gameplay felt gimmicky.

As for no PC version, that would be beyond stupid. This is Wulf series we're talking about.

It got old tbh. Machine needed a break from the IP. Indie is a good reprieve.

Scheiße! Nein.
Return to Castle Wolfenstein is the best in the series. After that:
New Order
New Colossus
Old Blood

I really wish they'd remake Return to Castle Wolfenstein from the ground up. Easily the best of them all.

MachineGames Proved It Was Worthy Of Wolfenstein By Fixing Bugs For Id Software

Speaking on Wassup Conversations, Matthies told the host that once MachineGames was founded, it didn't have enough money to hire a full development team and pitched around ideas for a while. Eventually, Id Software offered the team a chance to work with their IP, but first, they needed to prove themselves.
