Damn, and I thought I was the only one who dropped COD for Halo 3. Halo 3 is better. Great vehicles, awesome weapons, awesome physics, awesome game types, etc. So much crazy stuff can go down in one match that never could go down in Gears or COD. Don't get me wrong I like both those games but just not as much as Halo 3.

It's no surprise really. Halo 3 is easily one of the best shooters around. Very fun and competitive gameplay that mixes original maps with unique weaponry and fun vehicles not seen in any other shooter.

I always go back to Halo 3 while the others gets a good run but I eventually retire them and go back to Halo 3. I'm still trying to get my level 50. I'm stuck at 48! :(

But I'm having to much fun with Street Fighter 4 and Halo Wars and that's what is seeing most of my online play right now. But as always, I will eventually go back to Halo 3.

Believe me. It's more hectic and such a laugh with guest players tagging along. I use to play Halo3 all the time simply for it's SPLIT-SCREEN capabilities.

Haze had a pretty cool feature with the old school drop in drop out feature. Shame it became unnoticed.

How is it odd to have options of no matter what system. Halo 3 shows exactly what Halo 2 did and what Halo did. The game is that good. They keep updating it with new maps and what more can you ask for?

If you don't "get" Halo 3 and are honestly open to trying to understand, get a group of 3 players together and play through the game on the hardest difficulty. That becomes much more tactical once the enemy snipers can bring you down with one shot.

games with great multiplayer will always be at top of the list. Because as you play games like RE and stuff offline or co-op, you play alittle of your favorite shooter. Me right now im playing alot of SP 360 games(like re5), but I always play a little cs source, ever since cs 1.3.

Sure ALL consoles could use MORE IP's, but speaking specifically about 360, its only been a few months since the great holiday lineup of games and now just since the new year started its not like there isn't anything new worth playing, at the top of the list theres SF4, GTAIV DLC, HW's and RE5= all great stuff recently released and Ninja Blade is due real soon, these games along with a so many past great games should be plenty for 360 owners to enjoy for a bit and any potential new 360 owners will have his hands full, honestly I already have trouble trying to finish the basic campaign for the games I already own before new games I want come out.

Halo3 recieved a tremendous amount of hate from sony fanatics with comments about it being all hype soon after the great reviews and record sales, I said then they would be proven wrong and here we are in 2009 the game not only still can be found selling well in US and Euro but is commonly found fighting its way back to the top of Live's most played list....I'm just dissapointed that I haven't been able to contribute to its recent success because I work and I just don't have time for so many games.

I got both games on release. COD4 got boring after 2 weeks and hasn't seen the inside of my xbox since. As far as FPS goes, I've been playing Halo 3 for like 18 months now (and before that, Halo 2 for 3 years, and before that, Halo CE for 3 years). Same thing with Gears 2 - good game, got boring after like 2 weeks and I haven't touched it since.

Halo has legs. COD doesn't. COD just doesn't have the flexibility that Halo does - if you play 20 or 30 rounds of COD4 online, you've pretty much seen everything you'll ever see happen in that game and every match starts to feel the same. Halo doesn't have that problem. I can go on COD4 and just own people right, left and centre because the game is dumbed-down. It's EASY. The people that enjoy COD over Halo are the people who just aren't that good at a real competitive shooter - they need something more simple, and that's why they go to COD.

Fanboy much? Come on, give the game its due. The same thing happened to that brilliant and insanely fun game called Crackdown. A lot of PS3 fans/fanboys said that people only bought it for the H3 Beta. Which to some extent was true, but there was a gem there. And honestly, without the exposure the H3 Beta gave it, it would have gone unseen.

So Halo has helped these games, and that's impressive in itself. But the more impressive aspect is that those two games are really good, and can stand on their own and garner their own merit.

I'm sorry that you misread my comment as some kind of fanboy rant.

I'm not saying that Halo Wars is a bad game or that people were deceived. What I know is that a lot of people love Halo 3 and still play it religiously. Therefore given the opportunity to get 3 new maps early is the reason a lot of people bought Halo Wars, and in turn realized that HW is actually a really good game. Possibly a game they would have passed on without the inclusion of the 3 maps (just as they may have with Crackdown). I think it was brilliant of Microsoft to bundle the maps with the game. It certainly help increase it's sales.

As for my Cod4 point, I agree with you about that game. I traded mine in almost a year ago and haven't missed it. I personally love Socom and Killzone 2 and nothing would make go back to playing CoD after playing K2. But there is still a ton of people who love the CoD series. A lot of them splitting time between CoD:WaW and CoD4.
If new maps were released for CoD4 you would see a drop in the number of WaW players and a huge increase in CoD4 on Live and PSN.

That is the main point i wanted to drive home.

But the H3 map pack didn't need to be bundled in with HW to drive H3 back up to #1, it's been battling everything from CoD4, Cod: WaW, GTA: IV, and Gears 2 for how long now.

It's just that people (not directly saying you) are looking for any excuse to take HW down. Many of whom, have never played the game, but that's the bandwagon they are on. Take away any credit that you could possibly give the game. Just like Crackdown.

It was a brilliant move by MS, but couldn't you also say that MS saw how great the game was and wanted to get it as much attention as possible, so that it wouldn't be missed by the gaming community.

It's harp on MS for anything they do and make it sound like an evil deed. When if you look at the positive, it was a great move to expose different gamers to this genre/game.

Still to this day no multiplayer shooter has met my needs of balance and gameplay like frustrating at times Halo 1, 2 , and 3. The universe is so epic and personally better than Cod4,5, and even KZ2 to me. There's just nothing like Halo and it deserves the top spot period.

Personnally I prefer Killzone 2 by far and my 360 is collecting dust lately.

Killzone 2 is both much more beautiful (hell, halo 3 is 2 years old so it shows a lot) and much funnier for me. With multiple classes, badges, subclasses and strategies and a seamless integration of the objectives (CPU designates a new kind of mission in random order, the team has to adapt and go from assassination to planting a bomb and tons more), it's an absolute crack to play.

Compared to the new king, Halo 3 looks quite old-gen both in gameplay and graphics / sound right now.

That's my opinion.

the really funny thing is is that the only reason i ended up playing it is because I played Killzone 2 online for a bit and for some reason I had the urge to try out Halo 3 again.

it's really good, very underrated (or maybe not) in my opinion. good job Bungie, Halo series is king.

Halo 3 is very popular because anyone can just pick it up and swear they are so good. Halo 3 is made for the casual gamer and that's why you have so many annoying little kids running around and screaming into their mikes.

I just don't find it challenging running around looking for weapons and being able to just run up to a guy and kill him with the plasma sword. I also don't like the fact you can't turn auto aim assist off.

Halo3 has casual appeal because the controls are very well done, the gameplay is accessible to pick up & play but calling Halo3 easy or saying any beginner can just pick it up and "swear they are so good" is foolish on your part. I've played alot of shooters and speaking specifically about online multiplayer, compared to other online *console shooters Halo3 by far demands alot MORE practice and skill to move up in the rankings just to come close to competing toe to toe with the best players out there. I'm not claiming to be one of those great players but I have friends that are ridiculously skilled at Halo3. COD series and now KZ2 although they are great games in their own right by comparison are much easier for me to get kills, not saying I'm really great at any of them, but most gamers who play alot of shooters like me will tell you Halo3 requires alot more practice to get kills regularly and advance through the ranks, maybe thats due to it being around for awhile, having the same core gameplay and being as popular as it is there ARE ALOT MORE EXPERIENCED players compared to other shooters but either way it does take SKILL to own in Halo3.

While I find the controls for KZ2 a bit akward to my tastes still I have know problem scoring lots of kills in my few online sessions so far. Put it this way, in the begining when I was playing Halo3 everyday even back then the competition was unbelievably good, you had to really be good to actually win a match, Halo3 is one of my favorite games but I realize I can't possibly practice enough to really be anything more than a decent player compared to the competition. Sure "noobs" may complain about how unrealistic jumping is or melee sword kills etc but its an accepted part of the games style, he'e a badass Spartan, put on your boots.

you see, halo has the pick up and play ability but no console fps game has as much depth as halo. There are hundreds of tricks that you need you need to learn about if you want to play with the best, grenade jumps, boosting, beatdown timers. And theres a reason it's played in leagues, few games have the strategy required, holding the proper power weapons can make or break a match.

Also, there isn't "auto aim" they use tracking to help nullify latency problems that might occur. You still have to lead shots. Auto aim is cod4, tap one trigger pull the other, rinse and repeat. And if that doesn't work, lob 600 nades.

Why, because the weapons are cheap and they don't allow you to turn off the auto aim. Give the option to turn off auto aim assist and then we can talk. But until Halo and COD4 give this option then they are both noob games.

If noobs and little kiddies want to play Halo 3 and COD 4 with Auto Aim Assist fine but give us the option to turn it off.

FYI: I have no problem with Auto Aim and games that seem to have it sell more but they should have the option to turn them off so gamers can go into a rooms and not hear the little babies screaming in the mike I killed you ,you suck motherFker! And clan matches that

Ive been playing COD WAW on live...think it gets a lot off flack for the flaws in the game but still, i really enjoy it.COD 4 was amazing and i think COD WAW just carried on the same formula with the ww2 scene..Not a biggie for me as it's got some quality maps like asylum and dome with basicly the same games..Can't wait for the new map pack to be released thursday .

Halo3 is an all around fun game.

Quite frankly it is one of the only FPS's this gen to stay traditional in its own way.

More FPS's are taking the realistic approach while Halo3 stays fresh and fun with a more retro style FPS gameplay with a few kinks.

To all the people who disagreed. How many of you are in Clans? How many of you have competed in tournaments and Clan Matches? Because if you did then you know where I'm coming from.

Again, the reason Halo is popular is because it more fun for the average gamer . I hate it because it has cheap weapons that become a race to who can get to the best weapon on the map first and jumping around like a Power Ranger is not for me.

Also, sorry but running up to someone with a plasma sword and killing him might be fun but that does not equate to skill for me.

I play online for fun but when you play Tournaments and Clan Matches it brings the online gaming to the next level. Any game that has any kind of Auto Aim Assist cannot give you the same intense experience you will get with a game without Auto Aim especially in clan matches.

Auto Aim = Great for the average online gamer.
Auto Aim = helps the less skilled player more than a skilled person.

Auto Aim = Halo 1,2,3 Online
Auto Aim = Cod4 and COD World at War Online
Auto Aim = GTA4 online
Auto Aim = Warhawk Online

this is a Pro Halo Article. I mean, I'm sorry if you've been waiting for KZ2 all your life, but most of the people here are here because of H3.

Go find a pro KZ2 article and post to your hearts delight.

And for the record, H3's ease of controls makes it approachable, but it will not make you an expert. I stopped playing it for a little while, so i can play my other games, and when i tried to go back to it. I was getting owned left and right. It takes real skill to be at a high level in H3.

So take your KZ2 and your negative comments about H3 and go elsewhere. It's not needed here. Really, it's not.

P.S. Last time i checked, Halo had tournaments. Hmmm... Where you in any, matter a fact what level are you. I mean since the game is so easy. and what shooters do you play.

P.S.S. Oh and last time i checked, KZ2 had issues with autoaim and the shotgun (it could not be turned off), not only that, everyone was using the shotgun because of it's unbalance and advantages, so ummm what's that about games without autoaim. Stop typing, and leave this thread.

Just stating a fact that because the game sells so much doesn't mean it's all that. Same applies to the COD series. You all should just admit the reason why Halo is so popular is because it geared toward the casual gamer or casual hardcore gamer.

Answer to your question:
No, I do not own a 360. Some of my friends do and lets just say they aren't very good but they like Halo and COD.

I have went Prestige on COD4 3 times and I am at 55 for COD WaW. It also only took me only a week to get to 55 in COD Waw. Does going Prestige or Level 50in Halo mean your a great player? Does the fact that I got up to Level 55 in COD WaW in one week a measure of my skill?

Now that Killzone is out I don't play any other FPS shooters. It also only took me a week to get to General in Killzone 2.
I have the 1% valor medal too. You get that in Killzone when you are the top 1% rank.

Yes, I unlocked all the ribbons for K2 which is the same as unlocking all the classes. Did all that so I can combine badges for clan matches. Never liked Rainbow six on PS2 so I never bought it for the PS3.

No Auto Aim gamer since PS2.

Ok, Halo 3 does require some skills but it still a Noob Game.

You do realize MS Supports those Tournmments? MS markets the 360 very well.

The shotgun Glitched has been fixed. The rifle is my weapon of choice in Killzone. The shot gun is cool when you pop someone but I will own you if you come to me with one. Remember this, the shotgun is only good up to ten feet in Killzone.

Trust me , I will own you at any shooter. Don't fool yourself into thinking your're good. Auto Aim games tend to do that to you. Look at all the noobs that think that Hardcore in COD is a test of skill.
All COD hardcore is, is a bunch of noobs shooting penis Grenades and campers. That auto aim come in real handy when your camping.

Right now I only play Killzone . You know the game that so many people are complaining about the controls not responding fast enough.

Their are tons of dark shooters on the market that have zero personality and all play the same. Halo 3 is the only one that gives you something refreshingly different. You won't find the same ole tired war torn streets here. Only creative beautiful sci fi maps with unique and fun weapons. The Spartan Laser has to be the best weapon EVER in a FPS. No other multiplayer FPS out there is even close to Halo 3.

Halo 3 is definitely the premiere competitive fps on the market today. It's no wonder that ESPN shows actual MLG tournaments showing Halo 3.
