Online gaming can be a buzz kill when playing in public matches. I still will always prefer LAN over online, but the ability to play instantly with friends from all over is hard to hate.

lots of people dont have friends.

online is like an automatic friend finder

I think it's the same old competitive/DM types of online play that are killing the fun. It's just to easy to make your FPS (or whatever), and then just tack on a deathmatch mode, when honestly nobody is even going to play it over the permier online games (COD, KZ, Halo)

I like the trend of co-op thats currently gaining steam, but i think devs should push the boundaries ever further into 'all new' game types for online.

I think this is why there has been a push for co-op play. Most games are more fun when you win, and for for those who meet the standards, it is fun. But for the contingent that "sucks", they are excluded from the fun, either by design or social factors.

Now, I would hope that designers and players can recognize how infantile it is to say, in effect, "because you suck, you shouldn't even play". But I know there will always be an over-competitive moron who thinks it's something more than just a game and his e-peen matters.

But when you play co-op, you play as a team inside a story you are designed to win. I've been playing co-op with friends on Halo 3 for the last few days, and it's tons more fun than playing the campaign on my own. We even converted a Halo hater who didn't "get" it before now. Put him in the game and he realized, "the story does suck but playing the game is a lot of fun".

But aside from that, YES, online vs is the bane of fun for everyone, even the person at the top who has no fun trying to maintain his position.

Some of the best nights of my life were spent running a 100ft LAN cable up two stories for Halo 1.

Local MP, co-op. My friends and I used to have all night parties around DOOM 1 & 2, we would hook our PS1s together and go at it forever. Lot of good times.

My wife loves split screen with me on Gears, but is very disappointed in KZ2 because we have to play separately. Same with a few of my friends...

I love split screen, I really hope it doesn't die

Fullish5521d ago

If done right splitscreen is good, otherwise it can be very annoying.

Online is mostly fun when you play Co-op. Me and my bro tried Halo 3 multiplayer yesterday and it just wasn't fun, we didn't have a chance to have fun, we were too busy making sure we're not dead.(sounds weird but it's just my opinion).

EKWB reportedly plagued with financial disarray many gaming pc's left without parts

EK Cooling allegedly has slipped itself into a hot soup of seemingly endless financial woes, where it has not paid its staff, suppliers, and contractors for many months as the company is facing liquidity problems and a surplus of inventory left unsold, stuck in the warehouse for a more extended period. Gamers Nexus investigated these claims made by former and current personnel, where he found trails of unpaid bills lasting as long as three to four months and unpaid raises that accumulated for almost a year.

EK Water Blocks has two entities—a Slovenian-based headquarters and a US-based subsidiary, EK Cooling Solutions. Steve narrated the series of events in detail, stating that the company was reportedly irresponsible and negligent regarding payment. Consequently, partners and employees are forced to share the burden of alleged mismanagement. It all begins with its extensive range of products, leading to a surplus of goods. EK has over 230 water blocks, 40 liquid cooling kits, 85 reservoirs, 40 pumps, 73 radiators, and 212 miscellaneous accessories.

Yes this is not about video games directly but indirectly this will impact the pc gaming/workstation space hard.

This company is massive one of two in the water cool space so if it goes poof then thousands out there have no spare parts or half built computers.

SO yeah i know not about a video game but think of it as amd leaving the pc space but this is ekwb that could be leaving water cooling in the pc space
