Square Enix Releases First PlayStation 3 Game Today

Square Enix's first PS3 game in Japan. It is a Final Fantasy tower defense game called Crystal Defenders on the PlayStation Store for 900 yen.

i cant beleive im gettin the same fix i had on final fantasy series from persona 3 and 4 sega are nto doing bad at all wid yakuza 1 2 and 3. FBLADFIODIHJ aaahrg. why SE, why do they loook so much at money. or big pay chequs. its not hard to multiplat from even 2 years ago with what sony gave SE for dev tools. money changed the situation.
HAVING A LOVED FANBASE AND STATUS is better than money everybody knows that. even poor ppl are loved for the things they sometimes do for others.

I have to disagree UltimateIdiot911. Capcom hasn't proven anything yet. The reason why I stated that is became Capcom has yet to announce Lost Planet (don't care for Lost Planet) or Dead Rising 2 (could care less) for the PS3. Capcom is probable in negotiation with MS for some form of exclusivity. It might be time exclusive, exclusive contents or something else.
A true multi-platform developer would have announce those games for the PS3 and Xbox 360. Hell even the Wii and PC as well.

Edit: Wow, S-E has only release 4 games on the Nintendo Wii. WTF is up with that

there are some pretty strong correlations that can be drawn with what happens when a developer/publisher embraces 'easy to develop for hardware' I guess...every single thing that SE has released (aside from this download, I have heard nothing about it) since FFXII and some fairly decent PSP games has been complete trash, and fell WAY under expectations of everyone...

blame the 360 for it?...most likely not...but something can be said about accepting checks from MS for timed exclusitivity...using UE3 on environments the engine clearly can't cope with...and pushing it out as fast as possible on a platform that can seemingly sell anything...

say whatever you want...but its pretty clear that because the 360 is extremely cheap and easy to develop for...it allows companies to behave like SE has for the past 2 years...that is push out worthless junk, and still stay in business...

not that the PS3 would have made that any better...as the same crap would simply have cost more and took longer to create...the only point of my little rant is that I can't complain too much about SE sort of ignoring the PS3 so far...they haven't made anything any PS3 fan should really want anyway...star ocean IV; ok...if you are a die hard JRPG fan, thats something worthwhile I guess...but for me personally, my stomach would hurt knowing that a Wii could render it...

Giving millions to them to go exclusive was definitely a dumb move for both Microcrap and SE. The difference is Microcrap won't die (yet) because of that.

It wasn't dumb at all for Microsoft. Even if the Square-Enix titles released on 360 don't sell, paying SE to develop so many games for 360 kept SE from spending all their time developing for PS3. So from Microsoft's point of view this move had defensive AND offensive properties.

These actions from Microsoft are probably why the 360 will get FF13. When this generation started the plan was for PS3 to get 2 exclusive FF13 games, now PS3 will just get one, FFv13

Now seriously who cares about Star Flop when you have Killzone 2 to play. SE published only 6/10 this gen, best JRPG is 9/10 Valkyria Chronicles but, as usual with good games, it's only on PS3.

Unless you cant live without their games as a gamer, we as PS3 owners shouldnt support their games. Its seems anyway, that RPG's this gen are few and far between. RPGS dont gain world wide press like games like Killzone 2 or GoW has done. MSN for exmaple (even though the suck) is not going to cover an RPG usually, especially a JRPG and developers seem less likely to make them.

We need Atlus to move the PS3 and bring their Shin Megami Tensei games with them.

thats becuase square has been completely sucking this gen regardless if they havent made any ps3 games. not makeing games on ps3 is the last straw. square has screwed itself as its game sells is horendous on the x360 thats why they loosing money and they angerd there sony fans as well. Its over for square enix already. they got one last shot with ff 13 but it looks like they going to fail as they holding back the american release so that ps3 and x360 version hit at the same time. if it wasnt for dragon quest and the handhelds they will already be dead.

Wow Square releases a game for the PS3 that is not Final Fantasy they shuld have been doing it earlier on. Now the big question should be will this game come to the American shores. SE have missed out on establishing and proving itself to a rapidly expanding market, known as Playstation that has proven to have a higher market penetration than the other, noticeable through it's total sales against duration time and evidently has a comparative attach rate of games per console. Did I mention some games selling higher than the other? SE have missed out.

And this happening with it's current premium price? With a price cut, it can only prosper even more.

How can ANY Playstation fan take anything from them seriously now? SE have missed out.
