Unreal Tournament 3 2.00 Patch Released For PS3

TAWKN.com is reporting that the 2.00 patch for Unreal Tournament 3 is live on the PlayStation Network. This is the patch that is supposed to include a lot of new stuff, including trophies, split-screen, and the in-game mod browser, amongst other goodies.

The patch was supposed to be delayed until March 19th, but it is up right now.

Cajun Chicken5545d ago

I hope this isn't a f**k up again.

GrabthroatShinkicker5545d ago

What do you mean? The patch is there, I have the trophy list up right now, looking through it. Definitely working. :D

morganfell5545d ago

This is phenomenal for the PS3. I have a ton of maps on my PS3 already. The game has shown itself to be a great ground breaker in the area of PS3 user freedom.

phosphor1125545d ago

YYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE EEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
I'm sorry KZ2, but I'll have to put you away for the night.

Godmars2905545d ago

I find your avatar disturbingly too accurate to your response...

Just saying.

Bob Dole5545d ago

Awww let someone borrow it :(

Oh well Bob Dole's on the last level in Killzone and almost to the third rank (whatever that is) in the MP.

phosphor1125545d ago

Some of the most ridiculous trophies ever.

Beat the last boss and campaign on Insane mode...GAH.
I wont be able to do that unless I get a mouse and keyboard, otherwise, there is no way in hell. I COULDN'T EVEN BEAT THE FIRST LEVEL ON INSANE!!

This is coming from a guy that plays MP on UT3 and almost always gets within the top 3 players (usually second =[)

rockleex5545d ago

So can Killzone 2!!!

Guerilla, please add splitscreen! Even if its only 2 player splitscreen!

Btw, does Killzone 2 have LAN support?

ELite_Ghost5545d ago

no LAN for kz2 :(, just online... LAN is useless without splitscreen anyway.

poopsack5545d ago

its just the patch for ps3 with splitscreen, trophies and mos browser, the titan pack itself isnt out for PS3 yet.

GrabthroatShinkicker5545d ago

My bad, I assumed they were one and the same. Fixed.

morganfell5545d ago

No, but there are plenty of features here that make it even easier (as if it wasn't so already) to delineate why the PS3 open development architecture yields more gamer freedom.

cryymoar5545d ago

makes me wana buy the game again :]

slak5545d ago

little 2 late ......FLOP

Bob Dole5545d ago (Edited 5545d ago )

Just because a game doesn't sell extremely well doesn't mean it's not worth appreciating.

thereapersson5545d ago

Your shallow opinion of this game is representative of your apparent outlook on videogaming as a whole.

Marceles5545d ago

never too late to take bubbles

rbluetank5545d ago

i do not know if i have the spirit to complete the entire game again on all levels even for trophies... it was fun then but not now when kizzy 2 is out and popping!!!

Myst5545d ago

Hmm even with this patch and this titan pack coming soon, I'm starting to wonder if I should go for the steam deal (perhaps even going to a local game stop and purchasing it for PC) or if I should go for the Playstation 3 version? Mainly just looking for one that still has a fairly active community, trophies aren't that important to me; so long as their are people to play against :).

Torch5545d ago (Edited 5545d ago )

If you're in the Toronto area, you may be interested to know that I picked up a used copy of UT3 for PS3 for $15! This was on February 27th, though...so I don't know if the anticipated Titan pack has created some new demand for the game.

As far as an active community is concerned: I honestly haven't seen anyone on my PS3 friends list playing UT3 for a very long time. But I reckon that may change soon...or I don't have enough friends. ;)

I fired up the PC version just the other day for some quick stress-relief, and didn't find a problem finding a hosted game. However, I haven't been playing it often enough to confirm a healthy user rate.

By the way: I've got the PC-DVD version as well, and graphically, there is absolutely no comparison, as the PC version looks and runs absolutely beautifully...especially at 1650x1080. Although the PS3 version is no slouch, I think it's limited to 720p and is not as insanely-paced as the PC version). The only reason I got the PS3 version is because I have no friends <sniff!> on Steam.

Another thing: If for some reason you happen to opt for the hard-copy PC version, do NOT install the game from DVD and THEN register it on Steam; doing so will cause you to have two copies of the game installed onto your drive.

Instead, register the DVD key to Steam, which will then forever commit that key to your account and proceed to download and install the game through your Steam client.

Hope this helps.

Myst5545d ago

Ah, thank you Torch. Either way I don't have a lot of people on my PSN nor do I have a lot of people on steam either (I just started my steam account just a few days before spring break so pretty much a given I don't have a lot of people.) From the sounds of it PC may be the best way to go, being that I'm sure some may be in between this and Killzone 2 at the moment so it probably won't have an insanely strong user based. Not to mention people are probably still playing Resistance 2.

$15 certainly isn't bad, it's still about 20 here I don't mind to much paying the extra 5, doesn't seem like it will hurt me (hopefully!) to much down the line. Also thank you for that tip! Having two copies of the game installed would have been a pain in the rear. Not leaning to much toward the PS3 version still playing on a standard television so anything that is at or over 720p will be not shown as well on my old 10 year model television :).

Once again thank you Torch and bubbles to you for the help.

Tech Focus - Motion Blur: Is It Good For Gaming Graphics?

Opinion is divided on this one for sure! Is motion blur good for gaming? Why do developers include it?

TheOptimist2151d ago

I hate any game that has motion blur and the first thing I do is switch off the motion blur in games. It just makes me nauseous.

XentaJones2151d ago

motion blur makes me sick... so its off.

OpenGL2151d ago

I agree with Alex here, many implementations are terrible but when it is done right it improves the experience.

TheSplooge2151d ago

I always turn it off. Along with depth of field.

Mr_Wilson2151d ago

Those plus vignetting, chromatic aberration, and film grain.

Let’s be Honest, DOOM Looks like the Best First Person Shooter We’ve Seen in Ages

Alex from GamersFTW writes:

“In all seriousness though, I feel like DOOM’s success will be measured by how much the game has to offer. Graphically it’s looking spectacular, and I’m sure the latest multiplayer trailer caught all of our attention. Personally, the game is beginning to remind me of those late nights playing Unreal Tournament 3, which is totally a good thing. This, in addition to the promise of user-generated content, is making DOOM look like the best first-person shooter I’ve seen in ages.”

The campaign looks brilliant, like a true nostalgia trip to the original DOOM titles of old! The multiplayer equally looks like a trip down memory lane to fast-paced and frantic arena games a-la Quake, and honestly the MP REALLY makes me want to the get game at launch to capitalise on the hype. Problem is I'm not overly fussed with multiplayer typically in games, they can get weary after a while, and buying a game solely for its MP is risky - especially on console - as it's heavily dependant on the community!

Rock to my left, hard place to my right..

EDIT: On the MP note, does anyone know if it'll have bots available, similar to Unreal Tournament 3? I still give that a quick play time to time with bots (and all the mad mutators).

c00lvilKid692982d ago

I’m exactly the same, usually multiplayer games are of no interest to me. But DOOM has sparked my curiosity, especially as someone who used to enjoy multiplayer first person shooters like Quake/Unreal. Totally understand your concerns about it being heavily dependant on the community, too. Which is just another reason they should include bots, in case the numbers need to be made up. I’m hoping the community will be good, considering the creative freedoms they’re handing over with the SnapMap thing.

Its basically a "console" ahead, in terms of graphics, of another shooter called Homefront thats getting ready to release. LOL

wakeNbake2982d ago

Well thats just a low budget turd, no comparison at all.

mezati992982d ago
