Nintendo's President Satoru Iwata, speaking at a corporate management policy briefing, revealed his feelings regarding the constant price reductions in the video game market. Calling it an "unhealthy product cycle", Iwata feels that each console should have a fixed price, and never be affected by new hardware in the market. The thinking is that, if consoles typically become cheaper at fixed times after their launch, gamers will simply figure out the market and buy them when the price is reduced.
