Gamertell has posted a preview of Mirror's Edge 2D for PC along with a gallery of screen captures.
From the preview:
"A good way to think of Mirror's Edge 2D is to think of a version of Mirror's Edge that won't make you motion sick. And is executed completely in 2D in your browser.
Borne Games' EA endorsed version of the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC game is surprisingly faithful to the premise of the original game, even in the beta. The goal is to get information, found in the form of red icons, file folders and non-descript brown bags, and keep moving."
Bitmob - Everybody knows Mirror’s Edge, Swedish developer DICE’s flawed yet incredible foray into free running. While it didn't sell as well as hoped, we've heard rumors of a sequel ever since it was released. This past week at industry trade show E3, Electronic Arts President Frank Gibeau confirmed that Mirror’s Edge 2 is still in development and may very well run on Battlefield 3's Frostbite 2 engine. But he didn't say anything about gameplay changes that would pair that gorgeous, totalitarian world with fluid, unbroken parkour.
Playstation move support FTW! :D but please let it have online modes. Online free roam would be awesome!
I <3 Mirrors Edge
When you fall - instead of instadeath, it would be better if you get a second chance, a ledge or lower obstacle to keep the freerunning going.
this game is dying for a 3rd person mode, the 1st person set up spoilt it imo, still one of the best looking games this gen art is amazing
With the recent unveiling of the Chrome Web Store and the direct involvement of EA, Mirrors Edge 2D showed up on the offerings and adds some interesting touches to the 2D sidescroller, albeit browser based, gameplay.
Wow! Yeah, for a surprisingly DISAPPOINTING title release, the 2D sidescroller is rather fun!
This: "What we see are slick, fluid controls, along with a bright, cheery atmosphere. While the author doesn’t necessarily come into this with high hopes (even negating the fact that this 2D scroller was based off of a rather ailing national title release), I came away enjoying and wasting a considerable amount of time on this little EA release"
..is the entire review. Really?
No worries, man. Some of the reviews and articles get put up here mid-edit/writing.
Electronic Arts Inc.(EA) today unveiled a slate of titles that are now available in the Google Chrome Web Store. At a Google Chrome event, EA showcased its popular gaming destination, Pogo, which leveraged the Google Web Toolkit to transform Poppit! into an HTML5 title.
