TGR:Ninja Blade Preview "Ninja Gaiden God of War Hybrid?"

At first glance, Ninja Blade looks to be a clear success. The title plays like a hybrid of Ninja Gaiden and God of War, which is really a solid mixture. The game's cinematic, stylistic violence is extremely representative of what fans of games like Ninja Gaiden and Devil May Cry have come to love, and seeing as this appears to be an off year for both of those franchises, it looks like Ninja Blade might be able to gain some footing in the realm of giant sword toting, magic wielding badasses.

I'm really iffy about this game. It was fun but way too many QTE's

Time_Is_On_My_Side4010d ago

I was thinking the same thing because if it's suppose to be a hybrid of Ninja Gaiden and God of War you actually need to control the character longer than a minute otherwise it isn't better than either.

I need a good action title. It's been a while.

socomnick4010d ago

the cutscenes are the only moments that it requires qte. The gameplay isn't interrupted with Quick time Events like in god of war and heavenly sword.

gaffyh4010d ago

This game is no way as good as either Ninja Gaiden or God of War. The only way it is a hybrid is that Ninja Gaiden has ninjas, and GOW has some QTEs.

N4Garbage4010d ago

Have you played the game?

Probably not.

"the cutscenes are the only moments that it requires qte. The gameplay isn't interrupted with Quick time Events like in god of war and heavenly sword."

SocomNick: So, are they cutscene QTE's like in ShenMue or Resident Evil 4, where if you fail to hit them, you die, or have to at least redo the segment? I think the charm of the QTE's in God of War is that they're almost entirely optional. If you hit them, it just affords you a more cinematic killing. Otherwise, they occur during a boss fight, and if you fail to hit one, you just have to hit another, if you miss too many in a row, you just have to damage the boss again and initiate the sequence again, and try to hit them properly that time.

So, if you could explain how they are in Ninja Blade, I'd have a better idea as to whether it is truly comparable to God of War or not (but for me, the God of War style implementation of QTE is about the best way I've ever seen it done)

Umm the QTE in Ninja blade are 20x longer than in God of war or Heavenly sword and you can't really travel anywhere without doing QTE's either. Basicly you do QTE's untill you get droped on a platform then you kill all the spawning enemies and after that you start doing QTE's again untill your either on a new platform killings spawning mobs or in a boss fight. And btw you have no idea if you get interrupted or not by QTE's m8 and neither does anyone except for the developers.

@callahan09

When you die in Ninja blade's QTE's the time gets rewinded pretty much like in prince of persia 1,2&3 and mostly (while traveling) they are NOT optional. Fail to hit one and your dead. Boss fight QTE's are more forgiving, but still gives an un-wanted side effect though.

gaffyh4009d ago

@N4Garbage - I have played the demo, not got round to playing the game yet. But from my impressions from the demo, Ninja Gaiden and Gow are a million times better than this game

Preview!? This game has been out for ages.

Also no its not. Its a Quick Time event only, not even GoW had so many QTEs

cain1414010d ago

It's been out in Japan. Doesn't come out in the US for a few months.

Montreafart4009d ago

That is the 10 dollar question right now.

The 360 is in a bad shape. Its a wounded animal. Can Ninja Blade save it from its demise?

NeverforgetNES4010d ago

Lol is the game released? Not in the US.....Then it is a preview. It looked like a pretty good preview to me. And the character looks totally sweet.

italianbreadman4010d ago

QTE ftw! haha

Dude looks like Ryu Hayabusa's long-lost brother.

cain1414010d ago

I can't stand QTE's. Let me actually do the cool stuff. Not just watch it...

Press X not to die... How lame is that

cyguration4010d ago

you should press 'X' to actually do something, not keep yourself from seeing the Game Over screen.

Head Shot King4010d ago

So your saying that God Of War and heavy Rain are lame/

Sitdown4010d ago

"you should press 'X' to actually do something, not keep yourself from seeing the Game Over screen. "

Hopefully you see the irony of your statement.

StephanieBBB4009d ago

I agree too, when the QTE's are longer than 1 minute.

Heavy rain is pretty much comfirmed for that but I don't think God of war has that long QTE's.

VirtualKatz4010d ago

Well its made by Microsoft and looks an awful lot like Ninja Gaiden, where's the originality?

cain1414010d ago

From Software is making it. MS is just publishing it...

XLiveGamer4010d ago

Super Cool !

I guess we finally have something we can enjoy together don't you think?

I love my Ninja Gaiden but that doesn't mean that i have a reason to bash this one without playing it 1st. The game its not out yet give him a chance.

Head Shot King4009d ago

I hope for your sake that was Sarcasm.

Do you really belive Microsoft made Ninja Blade?
