MIDI is the future of game audio

Jason Page and Michael Kelly spoke to GDC attendees about creating next-generation audio on the PS3. In a surprising discussion, Dolby's Jason Page admitted that the future of video game music may be based in technology that's considered antiquated by most: MIDI.

An aspect IGN didnt like. But to be fair although the tunes were excellent some of the sound choices were dubious, like that strange sound in the nights on hyrule field that sounds like imitation singing. just sounds a bit stupid.

It makes sence to me that the soundtrack should change as you walk, run, move etc into different areas or situations through slight changes or introductions of transitions in the music. It's more interactive.
