Videogamer writes: "When we reviewed EA and DICE's Mirror's Edge late last year we made it quite clear that the platforming made it a success. It wasn't for everyone, but if it clicked you had the best first-person platformer ever, and a game that allowed the dedicated few to set times way above the competition. Because of this it was the time trial mode that held most replay value, doing away with the occasionally tedious combat and interference from enemies, and it's this area that has seen the first DLC update."
The Lost Gamer takes a look back at EA and DICE's Mirror's Edge title, and what made it such a unique gaming experience.
NextGN Writes: "This list is meant to try and encompass some of the toughest Trophies out there. Bear in mind, these trophies may or may not be time consuming – but they are definitely hard to get. Only games that feature Platinum trophies are included, if not – PAIN and Soldner X would leave no room for the rest. Bear in mind these are in no particular order."
Killzone 2 on Elite Was a B*tch at the End
Probably the Most Difficult of Trophys
But i'm proud to say that is one of my Most Prized Trophys in my Vast Collection
The absolutely hardest trophies are in Warhawk, Complete a deathmatch withour dying and be the top player, and complete a team deathmatch without dying and be the top player.
I mean WTF, the only way to do that is by cheating.
ahhaha your funny the hardest trophy ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! is riddick there is one where you have to win 1000 matches online and i am not kidding trust this is hell i will bow fore the guy that has that trophy
but time consuming, now the warlord trophy in Far Cry 2 is impossible, mainly cause Ubi have a habit of losing your stats
i have all the single player ones but i wud luv someone to help me get the online ones!!!
i hope that online bug isnt true!!
What about Battlefield Bad Company? I don't remember the name, but it is the one you get for achieving all medals in online play. I'm pretty sure it is impossible because one of the medals is broken, and they won't patch it.
SOCOM... nearly all the trophies are hard and the platinum is defiantly impossible.
It takes about 10 hours for an average player just to get their 1st trophy.
The person with a Platinum trophy in this game is both an amazing gamer and a sad loner at the same time.
R2's 10K kills trophy took me like 4 months to get, and Late Boomer is just a b1tch, it was the only trophy i have that took me hundreds of tries to get
The hardest trophy for me has to be on Socom. 15 kills without taking any damage is crazy, I can't even get the 15 kills without dying trophy
you need to be a general to get platinum, that takes like 1000 hours, to get that rank u need 5k A2A kills( it used to be 10k but they lower it.
you need 1k kills with every infantry weapon =(.
I still don't have platinum, I need 1k kills in a turret(need about100) and 750 kills in a 4x4(Need about 80).I've play this game for 1400hours 0_0
socom is definitely the hardest but my friend Catfish_305 did and now hes playing in the uncharted beta
It seems these guys forget the online games for ps3...SOCOM and Warhawk. Now, I know warhawk is hard too, and should have been on the list, but SOCOM - sheesh, their gold trophy seems like a platinum[Legion of Merit Medal]:
50 MVP Awards
5000 Kills
250 Headshots
500 Games on winning side
Extract 150 Hostages
Plant 100 Bombs
Capture 125 Control Points
Eliminate 125 VIPs
Silver Star(trophy)
Military Cross(trophy)
Gallantry Medal(trophy)
All Service Medals(Be Bad @$$ on each game mode)
All Weapon Specialties Elite(like a million kills and headshots for each weapon)
That might look easy to some, but if you've ever played socom in a ranked game, max kills at times is like 5, even in 16v16. It's insanely hard.
yeah warhawk is definitely the hardest that i own...and then wipeout hd...
a lot of guys complain about killzone 2, but i seems to be the easiest shooter in a while...the 1% trophy is not hard, just learn how to play it...start playing the hour that the new week starts (you can find the timezone cut offs on the kz website)...and play BC only matches...as long as you have the BC medals, youll be averaging a few hundred points a match...put around 1.5 hours a night into it, then as much as you can on the weekend...and you should get it....recently it takes acout 6000 points a week to get it...which for most is about 8 to 10 hours of body count only...that is hardly as impossible as people make it seem...
Warhawk has some ridiculous ones, along with Wipeout HD (biggest culprit). KZ 2 is pretty hard as well. I've gotten 2 of the top ranked weekly award things....hard games =[ lol.
Even though theres no Platinum or Gold trophies, Pixel Junk: Eden is no walk in the park.
i think more than anything we need a list of games that are 'easy' to platinum...almost every game has at least one or two trophies that are a major pain...
Uncharted, Resistance 2, UT3, etc. each have some very easy trophies, and some that take a good amount of dedication...
the only platinum trophy I have is Burnout Paradise...and that was pretty much easy...just involves playing a few hours online, and about 25 hours worth of the single player (you get the platinum before you even really finish the single player game)...the only tough one for me was getting the wildcat stadium trophy, where 8 players all show up in the stadium...took a few hours, because people kept quitting or simply not going where the challenge directed them to...
every other game I have that has trophies though has something in there that I simply am not ready to dedicate the time to getting...
But Mirror's Edge is the hardest to me. I got so frustrated I gave up on that game. The timed level run-throughs and Time Trials really tested my patience. Warhawk is definitely hard as I'm not willing to put that kind of time in eventhough I do love the game. Uncharted and inFamous were just right in my opinion. Challenging but not at all impossible.
is Legendary Champion in SFIV. You have to beat the game on the hardest difficulty without continuing and face and beat Gouken. If Seth doesn't kick my @ss Gouken does.
id have to say the sitting ducks one in hawx is hard mainly because of the number of variables, othewise the shocking challenge in hawx, as its broken and cant be done..
Dead Space
Prince of Persia
Sega Genesis Collection
Uncharted
Fallout 3
inFAMOUS
Those are the platinum's I currently have (well infamous I have to grind for a while to get the good upgrades one). Dead Space took me maybe 3 play through's, but wasn't that difficult. I played the first time through with the pistol only, and everything else wasn't that bad (I did use the PS3 armor for that playthrough though).
PoP was basically 1 playthrough and like 1/5. Finding the orbs is a little annoying, but at least they tell you how many you have in each area.
Sega was easy. I'd rent it if you don't want to play the RPGs. Some cheats actually work towards your trophy, so for the stupid bean game, you can skip to the last level.
Uncharted I thought was pretty easy. Finding the treasures is a b!tch, but they have locations online if you need them. The most difficult playthrough only got me stuck a few times (I died plenty though).
Fallout is pretty easy as well. You just need to do every mission, and you can save about a level ahead of the Karma trophies and just cap a bunch of people to become evil and get the evil one (some might consider that cheating tho, I don't know).
350 shards for a bronze....now that takes the biscuit. Still got 2 to find then ill have my platinum
That's not hard though, as they noted, it's just time consuming as you have to be quite methodical.
Lmao I'm at 310 shards right now and i swear there are none left ...reminds me of crackdown i could never find those last 3 orbs!
The only Platinum Trophy i have so far is in Fallout 3 and I liked Infamous so much thats next on my list.I'm lvl8 with one Plat Trophy WTH!
This can help, however I still have two left and I'm buggered if I know where they are. There is one shard on the very top of the tallest building in the game next to the blast zone which you can't ping with L3
http://www.ps3trophies.org/...
I have 306 and I feel like there are no more. Do I have to be certain hight for some of them or it doesn't matter?
guys i hope you know, that the shards will show on the radar as blue dots, when you use the radar echo ;)
i was just venting. dont mind me. personally i feel that some of the super stardust ones are some of the hardest. I found them all btw...........:)
ha i'm in the same boat as you , I need 2 more shards but I've looked in every corner of the islands, but other then that getting platnium in that game is easy
Pffff... finding Shards is easy peasy!;)
Now, getting all the stunts is foxing me big time! The "splash and crash" (I think it's called) where you have to hit someone with a bolt while in the air then drop on them is proving next to impossible for me.
Annoyingly, I could have sworn I've actully done it a couple of times but it didn't register... It's to only thing keeping me from the Platinum!
Go to ps3trophies.org, they have a guide with a Map with all the shard locations. open it using the paint application and place a white dot on all the ones you've found so far. It's a little time consuming, but effective.
I have 9 platniums out of a possible 13, so you know I play to get those trophies and I'm very good at it. The hardest platniums I've come across are gta4 and farcry 2. I have all the single player gta4, but it's just a pity they had to fuk up the multiplayer trophies. Does anyone else have Key to the City? :)
Also farcry 2. The single player trophies are possible, just very annoying because of how the game was designed and how buggy it is. Also because of upgrading your guns online. I got to rank 10 and didn't upgrade a single gun. I gave up because online just wasn't fun because the latency was so bad if you weren't the host.
Anyone else have 9 or more platniums? I'm about lvl 10 60%.
GrayFox878
the wipeout gold trophies are the hardest i've seen
and Auf Wiedersen Petrovic (Bronze): was fixed in the 1.04 update it is less buggy but still buggy .. again i don't have both of them AND i'm stll trying to this day ..
Sonic unleashed eggmanland hot dog trophies are in the unforgiving part of my book ( the very idea of doing this stage without dying is already a challenge ..but you add a timer ????)
It's tough, but not as bad as some people make it seem to be. So far, the other day the farthest I got was Zone 65.
Just remember, the air brakes are your friend when handled gingerly.
Am I the only person in the world who found WipEout HD's trophies pretty easy? I've got something like 75% on it.
Those all do sound hard. I would say the hardest achievement/trophy I know of would be getting a fully upgraded relic weapon on FFXI. I think it's some low amount of points too...those take 1-2 years to make XD
1-2 years, psh, you are lowballing it a bit I think. The first one was not made for 3.5 years after they were released.
I have not played in a while though, perhaps it is easier now?
Some of the trophies can be done with a private game with just yourself playing. The getting all badges, medals, and increasing rank are the ones that are very time consuming. But regardless, Warhawk is still a fun game to play.
im on my way to warhawk platinum but you shouldnt have to play over 1000 hrs to get a trophy.
there are too many good games on the ps3 to waste countless hours trying to get trophies on one particular game.
lucky i love the game
SOCOM Confrontation, basically 5000 kills with every weapon gets you a platinum trophy....
GOLD: Legion Of Merit
50 MVP
5000 Kills
250 Headshots
500 Games Won
150 Hostages Extracted
BRONZE: Special Ops Medal
75 Sniper Rifle Kills
15 Kills In a Row w/o Dying
25 Melee Kills
3 Headshots In a Row
I love SOCOM, but those trophies are bananas!!!! Ya'll gotta understand just how hard SOCOM is to be good at it. Warhawk has a similar vertical learning curve, but SOCOM is far more tactical and tense.
i started for killzone 2 elite trophy 2day...
juz got the untouchable trophy past hour..!!
I didn't know Rock Band 2's bladder of steel could be done on any difficulty, I did it on expert guitar, well however, I unlocked 5 trophies in a single round (beat ES on normal, on hard, on expert, then expert without pausing or dying, then platinum) it looked nice hearing all those plink sounds of each trophy.
So far I only have platinum in RE5, Uncharted and Rock Band 2, working my way through guitar hero metallica, killzone 2 and guitar hero smash hits.
I found it impossible to unlock all of the icons and (badges) i think it had another name....
I gave up on trying for platinum when i seen these 2 trophies
@godmoney very :) granted i don't play for longer than 20 minute sittings, but it's extremely addictive :D and really has a unique but familiar feel to it :)
I've only had it a couple of days but it is incredibly addictive. It's also very hard. I've yet to finish the fith level on medium difficulty. I couldn't even get back to it when I wanted to try again.
The decomposition balls and fire add a whole new dimension too. If it was just smashing stuff I think the novelty would wear off quicker.
Check out Giantbomb quick look. They didn't really do too well though!
And yes, the trophies are really hard.
got to the last level in normal and spent 2 hours on the last level...
couldn't beat it T_T
Super addictive and I always go back for more. But the trophies are hard as hell to get... It's the only game I got that has 0% and I already played 14 hours...
I got the Killzone 2 Elite and MK vs DC raiden trophy! Anyone can add me on PSN and XBL.
i have it :D favourite trophy i have
just wish i could put it on the front of my psn and my eu trophy card :(
The only platinum i have so far are for KZ2, Uncharted,Burnout & Deadspace. Currently working on my next one for Demon's Souls. KZ2 is undoubtedly the toughest one from the list, I attempted to get Motorstorm2 too but gave up halfway 'coz the time atks were too hard!!
My policy is to aim for platinum trophies only for games which i enjoy immensely, hate to force myself to play some boring game repeatedly till i puke just for PSN levels (though i must admit i'm really tempted to when the bar is at 97% lol)
Damn I remember playing the reich on hardest level. Cursed and threw my controller several times into the wall, and now the R2 dosen't work at times.. :( That level got me sooo fustrated!!
The list fails already with no mentions of Demon's souls .
besides : "Street Fighter IV – Playing to Win (Silver):
Win 10 ranked matches in a row.
This Trophy was probably easier to get when the game just released. Those happy times when we were all noobs"
Really ? More than half the players are still noobs and scrubs . They are even easy to recognize , it's the flock that abuse ryu or ken or some zangief/sagat .
Attention there is nothing wrong with the characters , but pleny beginners figures they can do well with those , and they usually do given the level of many , until they hit the wall of real players .
10 wins in a row isnt really that hard in sf4 , be it at release or now ..
The Bladestone Trophy.
The rest are easy in theory, but the games is so super f***ing hard you couldn't tell
Wipeout has almost all trophies wicked hard.
Complete every level on elite....
Win 8 stage tournament on skilled or elite without loosing...
zico...
zone75....
Socom and other time trophies are easy because you must spend xxx hours to get them.
Hardest trophies are skill trophies.
Beacause zico time is soo wicked soo if you lack of talent, you sure can't get this trophy EVER.
Mirrors have some easy trophies..
I got GTAIV's Platinum. Auf Wiedersen Petrovic trophy should be Gold or even a Platinum by itself. The trophy is effing hard and R* horrible servers make the trophy somewhat impossible to unlock. If you don't play ALL the races without turning off or signing out of PSN then say goodbye to the trophy.
Took me 8 hours to get it with a friend. Most prized Platinum yet.
alot of you guys are overlooking guitar hero metallica by lot. Creeping death and stone cold crazy are rediculous. 575k on creeping death on guitar, you need to practically 100% the song on expert, i got 99% about 20 straight times and only got 565k. im one of the best guitarists on ps3 for guitar hero and that trophy was horrid, i can only imagine for the majority of people on here that would be on like medium it would be straight up impossible. stone cold crazy 65k vocals is just laughable, its so hard i got a friend to do it for me cuz i dont sing, after a monht only about 3 people actually earned that trophy on their own. i am very happy to say though that i was the very first to get platinum on GH metallica and im very happy about that.
Yeah SOCOM is really tough i'm surprised they didn't have any on that list... but the only game i own out of the ones they listed I got the trophy for! That's the insanely frustrating COD W@W Veteran one...
Still the most difficult achievement in gaming has no trophy. That is beating Ninja Sigma in Master Ninja mode.
I think that if the Devs wants to make the ppl who bought their games to continue to play then they should od more or less what Insomniac did.
Resistance 2 have some sick hard medals to get but those are not required to get a trophy and the 10,000 kills will keep people playing since it can take a while but ANY average or even bad player in FPS can get those kills but will just take longer.
Games like KZ2 and Socom for the PS3 are the kind of games that send most players to go play some thing else , it is like losing time(if playign VG was not to lose time already) on tryign ot acquire impossible trophies.
A reason I see why KZ2 is getting so much love with already TWO extra maps for it is that many players already don't play it online anymore.
I bet that the around 3M ppl that bought KZ2 only 1M still plays it online.
On the other hand the Resistance 2 and its 10k kills trophy still have online matches(also th3 30 VS 30 players team death matches) to join 24Hs a day and the game is older then KZ2.
Aren't most of those Trophies more or less just playing the game? Like the requirements are:
Get 250 Assault Rifle kills
Get 15% Accuracy in one match
Kill so many people, etc;
Anyway, I try to have fun on Confrontation but it's just kind of frustrating to even load up. I just wish Slant Six had done a better job of it.
kill 15 people in a row without taking any damage does not require skill *rolls eyes*
Yeah you just picked the easiest trophy
However… I bet most people only get 5 kills for a 20 min 8 round match (average) with maybe 3 VIP extracts or kills. Yes it’s time consuming, but isn’t that also the point… SOCOM will take 2000 hours for the average player and 1000 hours for a very good player.
You simply have no idea how difficult it is and the trophies only get harder…
*facepalm*
I hated the Mirrors Edge trophies. I got so frustrated with that game that I just gave up. I don't know how some people got the times they did on time trials and level runs. Even if I was about to make it I would always get punked at some point. I liked the story missions though.
Maybe I'm missing something but I actually found getting the Mirror's Edge platinum easier than that for Uncharted. Even the DLC 90 star trophy wasn't that hard to get if you just spend 15 minutes or so perfecting the majority of trials.
I managed the platinum on this. While certain trials were very hard you could effectively cheat by watching ghosts of the top players. So with the creativity elements removed it was just about your ability to pull off the required moves in quick succession.
1 time trying to get this trophy i ended up getting another trophy cus i spent so much time (complete 99 laps in 1 race lol)
It's so frustrating cus i remember at 1 time only like 3 ppl had beat the time on the leaderboards. The other night i spent about an hour and was nearly a second slower than my ghost, and my ghost was like another half a second slower than the time.
you need an absolutely perfect lap and i don't think i've spent as much time on a trophy as this. just a good job i love playing wipeout, especially zones with my custom soundtrack :P
im still try to get the one for my squad to spawn on me 20 times without me dying.it sounds easy but when the other team tosses a motion sensor i get spotted.BATTLEFIELD MADNESS!!!
Some of those are pretty good to be on that list, but I don't think the author took enough time to compare every single Trophy from every game.
I really think "Flying the Co-op" from GTA IV should have been up there, considering that the PS3 version was coded 'lazily'. What I mean by that is you have to remain in the same party, with the same people, cannot get disconnected, and most importantly: You have to do all three levels in one sitting unlike the Xbox 360/PC version. Also, it doesn't help that 'Bomb da Base II' has a bug where if you approach the boat from a certain angle in the helicopter it ends the match and usually kicks the players from the Party == meaning you have to start everything over. The time limits are hard enough in and of themselves.
from personal experience i would have to go with warhawk, wipeout hd, and freaking resistance 2. that 10,000 kill trophy is driving me nuts. i was a bigger fan of the first game but im already at 6,300 kills so i have no choice but to keep on going. once i get that last trophy im done with resistance 2 once and for all!
and this is why trophies are better than achievements. on the 360 you get points for your accomplishments but they all go to this arbitrary number called a gamerscore that people glance at and say, "heh....he plays a lot of games.." but with trophies you see what level they are as a player and your PSN tells you everything you need to know about how noob or hardcore he is by the number of gold and platinum trophies. if i go out of my way to get a tough trophy people will see that reflected on my level and can tell what day and time i got it.
i havent chased after trophies in a while, the hardest trophy game for me would have to be wipeout, and the game just isnt fun enough for me to even try to get anything else.
Nominations for Develop Industry Excellence Awards are unveiled, and two developers are likely to walk away with most of them.
Rockstar and Media Molecule will be contesting for the most category nominations. Rockstar snags six of them with GTA: Chinatown Wars and GTA IV: The Lost and the Damned from Rockstar while Media Molecule's LittleBigPlanet alone is nominated for another five.
Wouldn't be surprised if Rockstar takes all their 6 nominations and brings home several prizes =)
