Question: About your background: what did you do before taking up iPhone development?
Answer: I'm an academic-turned-software-engineer; about 6 years ago I took a leave from a Ph.D. program in Math to work at a software startup, and have never looked back! I left the startup about 3 1/2 years ago, and have been doing independent consulting work since then. I've been a big fan of Mac since the release of OS X, so it was pretty exciting when iPhone development became a possibility. I started off writing some apps that I always wanted on my iPhone, and have had a fair bit of success - so recently, I've decided to try to expand and form a larger company out of my software consulting. We're initially going to focus on creating new, innovative iPhone apps (and improving our existing ones!) - I really think there's a lot of potential for leveraging the iPhone platform to make some really useful applications.
