Vigster writes: "The buzz word on everyone's lips this past year has been "recession". With businesses losing profits and going into administration left, right and centre, people the world over are fearing for their jobs, their homes and their lifestyles. Throughout this whole economic crisis however, the games industry has been lauding itself as largely "recession-proof".
This has unfortunately proved not to be the case. Studios have been downsizing and closing down worldwide, and there has been many shock casualties, the most notable being the significant downsizing of EA, considered by many to be the biggest superpower in the industry. The loss of studios is not the only effect that recession has had on the industry, there is a noticeable, and possibly more concerning trend highlighted by the release schedule of many companies this year. The curse of the sequel."
