Do we hate Halo Wars and Killzone 2 before they are even released?

Halo Wars for the Xbox 360 and Killzone 2 for the PS3 are set to be released in the next few weeks. Halo Wars has mixed reviews thus far, but gamers at metacritic have taken a special dislike to it, and while Killzone 2 has racked up great reviews, gamers might be a bit hesitant about it.

I only have a PS3 but am considering getting a 360 in the near future, so you'll hear no badmouthing from me. While I shall always favour the Sony system (I played my sister's Xbox for a few weeks prior to purchasing my own console), I certainly see the advantage of having access to all systems and all exclusives.

I WILL defend a console and it's games that I consider good (KILLZONE 2 for example) against the buffoons eager to score cheap points, but never at the expense of a 'rival' system.

Actually, I expected more of Killzone 2 and less of Halo Wars. After the demos, those expecations flipped completely. HW is the day one buy now. KZ2 is the rent.

I predict 24 disagrees or more in an hour.

It's groupthink. It's a "my console versus your console" mentality. It's what some insecure gamers succumb to when their Gamerscore (or Trophy score, or...Friend Code) isn't big enough.

It doesn't help when journalists join in on the party. It helps even less when executives of the companies in question join in, too.

That's one thing I respect about Sony and Nintendo. They don't sling mud. They just pump out games. Some users here might hate me for saying this, but Microsoft executives are just as bad as their fanboys. They have no respect for the competition and jump at any chance to spew garbage about the "other" console.

I hated Halo. It was the most overhyped game I ever played. But Halo Wars looks like a very decent RTS game for a console. I love RTS games and hate the iffy selection us console-owners are usually lumped with.

Killzone 2 looks immense. I loved the demo (bit short though) and think I'll be playing it regularly as of next week!

youre right, before buying a game, people should just check the trailers to get their own first impression, and if they need a better idea, well there's 3 or 4 good reviewers on the net, like IGN. For the rest, its personnal.

But Metacritic is still a great service. I ignore the User Score but love getting a breakdown of the reviews. I'd love to judge games by trailers but I'm always let down (cough LOTR: Conquest cough)

To hate a game just because of what system it's on isn't really fair to the devs. There's nothing wrong with being a fan of a certain system but when it comes to the games themselves you need to give credit where it's due.

just an oversight on metactritic's part...they now don't allow user reviews until a game releases, which before they did...which was completely retarded, as it confirmed that EVERY user review was submitted by someone that had not played the game...

even then its still stupid...it should have some form of proof that you have played the entire game...which is impossible right now...so whatever...

I really don't see the point of "user" scores on Metacritic anyway. Anyone so inclined will be swayed by the 'official' reviews - If anyone chooses to base their choice of purchase on user scores then they're gullible, to say the least.

Yeah, I meant pirated. There's plenty of people that I'm sure have downloaded and played it, and therefore can pass judgment. They don't need to wait till March 3rd to have an opinion, so if they've played through it, they can hate on it if they want. They can also love it.

I'm not saying people should hate because it's a different genre with the Halo IP, but it's definitely going to be fuel for a certain group of people. I don't like RTS either, and I didn't find it very fun. I'm not a fan of micromanagement period. Gave the demo a shot, and I know I'd rather watch the cutscenes on Youtube than shell out $60 for a game I won't enjoy. Maybe I'll give it a chance somewhere down the line, but not now.

first people said GG could never pull off KZ2 graphics in real time. now they say KZ2 brings nothing new to genre. neither did CoD4 but it still sold very well.

It brings just as much new to the table as Gears of War did, and it's an awesome game on top of that. The atmosphere, first person cover system and multiplayer modes are all introducing something fresh.

Personally, at least in terms of the multiplayer, I enjoyed the Killzone 2 multiplayer (beta) more than either COD4, Gears or Halo 3.

The campaign, too, seems really awesome based on the demo.

This article is completely LAME.

I can't believe they are actually using "User Reviews" on Metacritic to make judgements about how people feel about it because Everyone on this site knows that it was PS3 fans that downgraded the Halo Wars User score and 360 fans downgraded the Killzone 2 User Score.... and on top of that, neither games have been officially released yet.

As far as Halo Wars goes, it looks like it's a game that can turn Halo fans into RTS gamers, and I'm sure that plenty of Halo fans will have fun with it, and it seems that Ensemble has proved that RTS games can be done well on consoles.

Me, hesitant about Killzone 2 after looking at the "User Reviews"? LMAO!!! I've been waiting for Killzone 2 since 2005. There's not a damn living thing in this world that stands in my way from owning that game next Friday.

Because now all we do is rely on reviews, and which multi-platform games have 1 pixel rendered better than the other.

I might be dating myself here, but when I started gaming, I didn't have to rely on reviews. For me it was simple.

An eye test. If it was something that looked like a game that I was going to enjoy, then I bought it. Its really that simple.

A game that gets an 8 or an 8.75, or god forbid, even a 9, is now considered a flop. Tell me, since when was a game that was rated as "very good" to "excellent", a flop??? On what planet of fanboys do the majority of these people come from?

Do you want every game to be an instant classic? That's nopt going to happen. It hasn't been that way since the Atari 2600, and it isn't going to be that way now. And it doesn't matter about how powerful a system is, or how many polygons it can push per second, because if the developer of the game is garbage, then the game is going to be garbage.

Christ, I still have an NES in perfect condition, and I play Tecmo Super Bowl almost religiously, and my IPhone is probably 5000X more powerful than that, but to me its still the greatest football game of all time.

They are complaining about the FPS drop, which I am unable to see when playing the demo.

I dont know why they are hating on Halo Wars, its a great game build your own empire and attack someone. Maybe if it has been called other than Halo people would require different expectations from it.
