Co-op Mode For Killzone 2 Is On The Horizon?

The official PlayStation UK site has the opportunity to talk with Guerrilla Games. With that interview they has spoken about a maybe co-up mode for Killzone 2.

Well, simply. MOST of the people's posts in here lean towards a desire to have co-op in the game, thus, people prefer playing the campign with friends. Don't try to play this philosophical "you're one person and you can't speak for all of us" nonsense. Look at the other posts, they all support adding it into the game and why do you think they support adding it? Well, because they WANT TO PLAY IT WITH FRIENDS. I know that everyone I play with on Live always desires to play campaign with fellow friends over playing it by themselves, espeically with AWFUL AI.

Co-op should have been there from the start. Kindof expected now a days.
It just adds to the experience. COD4 had a great campaign, but I only played thru it ONCE.
Had there been some buddy missions for me to go co-op on, I may have played thru twice.
I cant count how many time I have gone thru Halo 3 Campaign in co-op.

Many of my friends tend to shoot each other online, so I'm not looking forward to that, but a long as it's fun, that's cool.

I hope the PS3 and 360 gets more FPS games with vehicles online; the only good game (to me) of note that has vehicles are UTIII... and, to a lesser extent, if you can handle the uneven gameplay; HAZE.

It's just awful decision making not adding co-op. I would be pissed at EPIC if they didn't have co-op in Gears 2. All I said was I think it's a big let down they didn't have co-op. Online co-op is awesome!

Heck, I'm even going to buy Resident Evil 5, putting up with the last gen enemies, animation, and poor controls because it has a co-op mode.

is the new 'must have' it seems and i can understand that. Our industry is dynamic and there will be changes year on year that raise bars. If they do it ill be glad, if they dont, ill live especially since ive witnessed what GG have produced. KZ2 is technically the most impressive console game to date but there is always room for an improvement or two. Just cant wait for this sh1T to land already

Thats not totally unlikely. As you can already fight BOTs a "simple" evolution would be to include something along the lines of Gears Horde mode. I'd be more than happy with something like that.

because quite frankly, PS3 owners dont care! PS3 owners won't sell their system to buy GTA4 and the DLC, on the other hand, xbox360 owners will sell theirs for a PS3 and Killzone 2. Do you really want split screen type Co-op or would you rather have Crysis like Co-op? Open. Advancing the story from different directions.

Co-op as it stands is like "Press Start P2" which is insanely easy to add and dumb at this stage. Killzone: Liberation had it and it for the most part plays like a proof of concept for KZ2.

So what Co-Op would work? Co-op similar to KZ1 A.i. controlled Co-op to the point were player interweave; start at the same point but don't end at the same point necessarily. Example.

The sniper missions where one player is sniping in one building while the other is trying to reach a control point. Then the 2 players meet up at the end.

or

Have both players start the stage at different points while each encounter affects the other player. Player one can't clear a "kill room" in time (in which the necessity of a timely completion is transparent and real time) Player two gets burdened buy player ones short comings.

like Gem Fighters in a FPS but open ended so each player can win but the level of difficulty goes up the more unbalanced the effort.

Co-op via Online. Now that is a possibility. Whether they are talking about Arena style (similar to R2) or campaign (less likely). Any co-op is good.

Co-op even in downloadable form was already confirmed not to exist. Killzone CLEARLY should have been co-op out of the box. In fact attempt to go four player campaign like Halo 3 and see if Bungie didn't accomplish something special.

R2 had 8-player co-op. the co-op itself is a game on its own. plus, the rpg-like experience system and upgrades make you come back again and again.. in the end though, playing against bots gets stale and boring, especially against gaylo's horrible AI.. i would rather play against real humans.. pwn noobs and best the bests..

oh yeah, gaylo had 16 players max, with ps2 level graphics.. KZ2 has 3 players with the best console graphics to-date.. gears of lag had 10 but still laggy

yupp. 32 players, Warhawk had 32 players, Resistance: FoM had 32. R2 had 60 players online! MAG to have 256. And lag free. Boy am I glad the PSN has wonderful dedicated servers, not P2P. Isn't the PS3 and PSN great? it certainly is.

LOL @ you not even believing your own comments. Newsflash! Millions and millions of people actually have the attention span to play though entire campaigns in co-op. In fact, since you keep repeating the lame 'Gaylo' title , I'm pretty sure that millions and millions of those same fans are alot older than you. Played through the entire Gears 2 in co-op and like the rest of the huge fanbase I still have a blast playing 4-player Horde for more than '15 minutes'. And wait a minute, I've strangely never experienced the glitches or lags that are bragged about in almos every post of yours. But hey, every gamers experience is different. Some of us have lots of family and friends who game on Live and love that experience. Other have to bash other systems based on things they read and do not play. It sounds more like they're considering releasing specifically designed co op missions or modes within other parts of the game, probably more in the style of Resistance 2, which'd be sweet.

I'm pretty sure GG said they had no plans to introduce co op into the SP campaign, which is what many were hoping would come.

But then you have other GG seemingly people talking about "some kind" of co op. So it could be anything. It could still be nothing, too. I would say they're experimenting with what they can offer.

if add on dlc comes within the first few weeks of release of a game, it BETTER BE FREE!. DLC that is ready for DL when I get my games home, SHOULD'VE ALREADY BEEN ON THE DISC. I also DON'T want this feature rushed for KZ2, I want it done RIGHT!. It's all good to meet the demands of what the majority of fans want, but do them a favor and do it RIGHT!. I hope they take their time with KZ2 co-op so it don't play broken, I LOVE Fable 2 but the co-op was definatley rushed and I was a bit saddend by how it played. Just the controls are 1 gripe I have about how it should've been!

But overall, I'd rather play EVERY game without co-op as I did with Gears 1&2, Resistance 2, Halo 3, etc.. Because I like taking my time to explore to find hidden stuff (one reason Im a HUGE Uncharted fan)or maybe I just want to gawk at the awesome graphics and details a bit so I explore, but all my attempted co-op endevors have left me playing with people that just rush and plow their way through games and Im left trying to keep up. 1 main thing that causes this with people is Achievements and Trophies... people just want to get it all done and over with and rush to achieve whatever that said objective is!. To each their own, it's just not for me!
