PS2 Hits That Should Be Revisited on The PS3

As we all know the Playstation 2 introduced some rather cool new IP's during the last gen console generation. And while some of these gaming hits have made there way to the next gen consoles there still seems to be more great titles that should be harnessed on the Playstation 3. The Playstation 3 has definitely introduced some new concepts since launch and in 2009 we are already seeing some incredible new games releasing in the not so distant future. However, it would be cool to see certain titles from the Playstation 2 era which could really use a face lift utilizing the capabilities of the Playstation 3.

3 of the titles named have sequels in the works for PS3 (twisted metal, ico and sotc).

Mark of Kri was ok but nothing special. Seeing how good the GOW series is in comparison i wouldn't be bothered by a new game in the franchise.

However a next-gen follow up to SR: Legacy of kain will get me interested

COLLUSUS WOULD BE PURE AWESOMENESSTICITATION.

ICO mixed with SOTC boss fights...

Jak

Kingdom hearts

..............Dark Cloud

Eidos/Square Enix new version of Soul Reaver...

And how about bringing ODDWORLD back for a spin...

lephunk5969d ago

at the time of release, the fightin mechanic was quite unique and fun... i would definately be interested in an updated version...

i have yet to try the mark of kri follow up "rise of the kasai" ... prolly should hit up some flee markets and track that puppy down...

SotC 2! I would finally be able to die once that game is out and i beat it. Imagine, SotC 2, running off the CELL + RSX! Would def be one of the best looking games of all time.

Zone of the Enders, TimeSplitters, Summoner, Grandia, FFX totally redone.

Omegasyde5969d ago

Timesplitters 4(?) is in the works, and free radical is looking for a publisher.

To me Timesplitters was better than Halo last gen since it had great maps and a cool create a map feature.

Monkey5215969d ago

But we don't know if Timesplitters exists anymore considering that Free Radical is now Crytek UK since going out of business...and the two geniuses behind time splitters (David Doak and Steve Ellis) started their own new dev studio, Pumpkin Beach, Meaning, we don't know where the rights to the IP will end up. If anything, we better hope that pumpkin beach gets the rights or timesplitters will end up like crash and spyro, tired and played out.

Second Sight.
TimeSplitters.
Psi-Ops.
FirePro Wrestling (online play + being able to trade CAWs over PSN)
Rise to Honor (the first one wasn't great, but it was decent)
Fatal Frame (yeah, I know it's going to the Wii, but come on, seriously?)

Lombax5969d ago

I'm with you on that one.

Lombax5969d ago

I don't really think he needed both on that list. It's just too damn hard to pick one over the other.

6 other franchises/games that I would like to see revisited on the PS3:

Hitman
Jak and Daxter
BLACK
Vigilante 8 (my second favorite car combat game after Twisted Metal)
Max Payne
Syphon Filter

But I totally agree with Shadow of the Colossus and ICO though. I'd love to see a Shadow of the Colossus or ICO re-make with even bigger worlds, and/or a direct continuation of the story from SoTC or ICO.

Shadowolf5969d ago

I like the added list of games. BLACK, HITMAN, Zone of Enders and MAX PAYNE would all be great on the next-gen machines. There really are tons of great last-gen titles that would sell millions if they were re-visited.

On the PS3, you know it to be true! They cannot let a generation go without one and since they did well on the PSP, I cannot see why they would not put one on the PS3. I suspect however that they will dump tons of cash into it and make it a great title that takes years to develop for but in the end, it will be worth every minute we had to wait.

The score for the first Plants Vs Zombies is such great, iconic music that it has a timeless quality. Not quite the level of Minecraft, but wonderful in its own right.
