While not giving specific numbers, according to the Game Tsutaya Blog, Gundam Musou became the first PS3 game to sell over 100,000 copies in its first day of release.
I will never understand the draw of this type of game, but then again it doesn't matter what I think. 100,000 copies on day one!! Good news over all for Sony. More systems sold means more games.
The reason why so may people bought this game is because of the original Animated series which dates back to 1979 and the many sequels, movies as well as the different Gundam series such as the most recent one like Gundam Seed, so this game is a big draw for different age groups because a lot of people have grown up watching these different series. How ever if you really want to understand the appeal of Gundam it is probably a good Idea for you to watch the whole of the Original first series of Mobile Suite Gundam or the newer made Gundam Seed, these two series aren't related so you wont miss out on any story if you watch Gundam Seed witch has a different plot to the original series since it is like the difference Fina Fantasy VII and FFX.
how much slow motion kicks can the fanboys stand in the face.why does microsoft not get that to win in japan, you release games that they will like.not what you THINK THEY WILL LIKE.
blue dragon shows that it's possible to win over japanese gamers, but you got to make games and support games like this yourself.
sony is making games that will please euro-gamers,US-gamers,and asian gamers.that's how you win.with a "broad selection" of games that the world will like.
vf5 and gundam leading the way.can't wait to see dragonball sales on ps3 in japan when and if it comes out.
I think what japanese developers are doing for Sony is very noble. Games like Virtual Fighter, Tekken (rumor I think) and this game will be release for the 360 also but insted of doing a cross console release they are releasing the PS3 version first. It does show what many people acuse japanese developers of being bias against microsoft. Anyways, this is is great news for Sony.
Am I the only one who sees the massive issue when combining Gundam (a series that's basically never had a great game despite the probably hundreds of entries) teams up with Dynasty Warriors (a series that hasn't added anything really new since it began) and you get massive sales? I don't care what system it's on, this isn't a good thing.
And don't get me wrong, I love Dynasty Warriors gameplay (just pick any one title, there's no real reason to pick up more than one) and I have more than one Gundam model around my house... but this is something like seeing Madden and 2k sports teaming up to make a football game, just with baseball players filling the rosters isntead of NFL teams. Two flavors of vanilla still just add up to vanilla, even if it is an especially interesting vanilla.
no doubt this game will sell enourmous amounts of PS3's
Apparently 30,000 of those sales of Gundam were bundles with PS3...so already has...this source plays down that.
It's only good news if people who don't already own a PS3 buy a PS3 with it. If only people who own a PS3 buy it... well it's just more bad news.
...Most impressive. Will this begin to kick PS3 sales up closer to Wii levels?
Not gunna lie... after crossfire im a little traumitized with Gundam games. Kinda of the same way I feel about Dragon Ball Z games.
