PS3 fan Marcus L C*CK SUCKER gives us one of his theories on where the blame lies for the decline in video games sales this month.

ogwilson5980d ago

Wow, a little harsh there, don't you think?

Gobuz5980d ago

Obviously doesn't like it when the shoe is on the other foot.

Pennywise5980d ago

OGWILSON, you ask dont you think like this guy actually has a thought in his head.

Only thing going on in pp's tiny little head is spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam,

I don't think you can just single Xbox 360 out like that. If the playstation was hackable, people would be doing it just the same. Look at the Wii, DS, PSP, PS2, original xbox. All were hackable, all are being pirated. Just because it's impossible to do on PS3 doesn't mean that PS3 owners are any less innocent.

GWAVE5980d ago

It's not an issue of the 360 being to blame or the PS3 being innocent. The author of this article seems to forget that sales slump after the holidays. Period. That's just the way of things. Blaming the 360 (or any other console) for slumping sales would be the same as praising the 360 (or any other console) for boosted sales in November and December when...oh, there's this little holiday called "Christmas" going on.

IdleLeeSiuLung5980d ago

Except the Wii is now hackable by softmod. Who do you think will experience the biggest piracy problem? What about the Nintendo DS and R4? Why single out the 360?

TOSgamer5980d ago (Edited 5980d ago )

This is one stupid @ss article. Piracy helps hardware sales. It hurts software sales. Sony said as much themselves when asked about piracy on the PSP. And the numbers the article used had the 360 dropping more in hardware sales then it did in software. Four times as much in hardware then software sales. The sales drop has nothing to do with piracy especially since the Wii is by far the easiest system to hack.

Monchichi0255980d ago

And am I missing something?? Have the official sales numbers for January been released yet??

Leathersoup5980d ago

I think that a comparison cannot be made to the previous month but rather to the previous year at the same time in order to remove the holiday season from the equation. If that is done, Xbox sales in January have improved.
In January of 2008 the 360 sold 608305 units.
In January of 2009 the 360 sold 991213 units.

This is a difference of 382908 which is a 62.9% improvement over the previous year. Not exactly a sign of decline in sales.

Kill Crow5980d ago

is because all the christmass sales are over ....

This is the lamest article on N4G

yamamoto1145980d ago

He says "360 heads" in the title, then goes on during the article to blame piracy. What a moron! Every console is hackable. Why single out the 360?

thats_just_prime5980d ago

This guy has no idea what he is talking about

"With a -6% decline in Video Games and -25% decline in hardware sales in January, one cannot help but wonder if we are repeating our past in yet another industry of entertainment. I hate to bring this up but piracy of gaming is growing obviously in the midst of this great economic decline on one console [Xbox360] in specific. That same console also quietly tied the Playstation Portable for last place in sales last month."

A 6% drop from dec to jan ? OMG and thats amazing if its true. Dec is the biggest month of the year for gaming sales (and most anything less) and only a 25% in hardware if that true then the 360 still sold over a million system in Jan again that amazing. The 360 tied the psp for last place last month (aka in Dec) is this guy on crack The 360 out sold everything other the the wii

shovelbum5980d ago

Uh what? I guess the 7.6% unemployment rate had nothing to do with it.

JasonXE5980d ago (Edited 5980d ago )

this is a really bad article. I can't believe I wasted my time reading this instead of watching heroes.

Elven65979d ago

With a title like that and the first four words being "PS3 fan Marcus L" it raises a few flags...

Joey Greco RULES5979d ago

Piracy isnt affecting the Wii, the DS, or the 360.

If that was the case, then why isnt the PS3 just RAPING the competitions sales?

lol, the link also goes to nothing, heh.

blackboyunltd5980d ago

i think its the reverse. ps3 is to blame!!

Danja5980d ago

well maybe just maybe it's normal for sales to decline in January due to it being the month after the huge holidays shopping...

no-one one company can be blamed for declining sales.....

The 'Stop Killing Games' initiative is close to its final deadline

Ross Scott—also known as Accursed Farms on YouTube—has been fighting tooth and nail for almost a full year to help spearhead game preservation. Starting after it was announced that Ubisoft's The Crew would be shutting down, permanently ending support for the game, Scott launched the "Stop Killing Games" initiative.

That makes a twofold deadline for the Stop Killing Games initiative. Or, at least, one headed up by Scott: The UK petition, which ends July 14, and the EU Citizens' Initiative, which ends July 3.

M3talDiamond1d 13h ago (Edited 1d 13h ago )

If you live in the EU then Please sign this or our game ownership rights and game preservation is
at stake. I know there isnt much time left but please consider signing the petition

-Foxtrot16h ago

I never knew Ross Scott was doing this

People whine and in the end don't do a thing. Then whine more when they get screwed some more smh. If this makes it then it'll be monumental for consumers. That Pirate software guy was no help either smh.

"Players can now hide system apps, pin favorites to the list, and reduce the number of tiles displayed. This update is part of our ongoing effort to make Home more personal, flexible, and responsive to feedback."

This is welcomed, i like a less cluttered home screen.

Playdead co-founder slammed with lawsuit as bitter row with co-founder escalates

Playdead co-founder Dino Patti is allegedly being sued by his former studio and business partner.
Patti was threatened with a lawsuit earlier this year after he posted a now-deleted LinkedIn post that shared an "unauthorized" picture of co-founder Arnt Jensen and discussed some of Limbo's development. Patti said Jensen demanded a little over $73,000 in "suitable compensation and reimbursement," adding that he had "repeatedly" had such letters over the last nine years.
