Dissidia Final Fantasy & Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days NA release date announced

When waiting for a bus, two normally come along at once. In the gaming industry this is commonplace. And Square Enix have indeed sent two buses at exactly the same time.

Square Enix have announced to gamers that Dissida Final Fantasy (PlayStation Portable) & Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days (Nintendo DS) will be hitting North American shop shelves on 31.08.09 (Monday) for $39.99 RRP.

They are taking their time again, as always.

hay5548d ago

Yeah, and is it the localization time reduction Square has promised? 9 and a half month?

Ngai5548d ago (Edited 5548d ago )

wow the last day of august?? holy shiz don't call me crazy, but this is insane.. not to mention the EU release!! wow.

Foxgod5548d ago (Edited 5548d ago )

And people call me a fanboy when i say i prever MS, MS at least makes SE pump out those titles a few months after the japanese street date.

Star ocean 4
Lost odyssey
Infinite undiscovery
Last remnant
Blue dragon.

MS got them all out in a few months after the jap street date.

vasilisk5548d ago (Edited 5548d ago )

And we all know how SE titles for the 360 turned out...

EDIT: First of all you changed your original post.
Secondly what does Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon have to do with SE???
They were both developed by Mistwalker and published by Microsoft. It's pretty clear that you don't even know what you're talking about. The R.P.G. that SE made for Microsoft are The Last Remnant and Infinite Undiscovery and they both are below mediocrity. SO4 isn't even out yet...

Foxgod5548d ago (Edited 5548d ago )

Thats only one of them, last remnant, the rest plays fine thank you.

Also when the japanese product is finished, its supposed to be bug free, MS ensures that localizing is done during development of the game, so that the game can be released within a few months after the japanese date.

So the bugs in last remnant arent to blame to localizing the game, but more to poor development on SE their side.

And i never mentioned those games where from SE, they where just examples to show that MS gets them out quickly, what those games have in common is that they are all japanese origin, and where localized.

And SO4 is out in Japan, and soon in the west.
ALso, what does it matter if a game is mediocre ?
The POINT is, that they got released in the west faster.

Also play the games, you call em below mediocre makes you lose any credibility in this conversation, as both games are decent enough to play.

Also SE didnt make Infinite indiscovery, its made by Tri Ace.
ANd i didnt change my original post, i just added some lines.

vasilisk5548d ago (Edited 5548d ago )

Dude, are you even know what you are talking about??? First of all read my post above cause you already made 2 mistakes. Secondly if you're happy with Infinite Undiscovery, then your standards must be pretty low...
"MS ensures that localizing is done during development of the game"
And how exactly is MS "ensuring" that? Does MS develop these games? No. This is the developers decision, not Microsoft's.
And maybe, and I'm saying maybe, instead of localizing the games during development they should take that time to fix all the bugs that these games have, instead of rushing them out...

EDIT: and there you did it again, second time today that I pointed something wrong with your post, and you changed it, at least have the courage to stand by your original post.

Quoting:
"MS at least makes SE pump out those titles a few months after the japanese street date.

Star ocean 4
Lost odyssey
Infinite undiscovery
Last remnant
Blue dragon. "

How's that for not saying that the games were from SE?

Foxgod5548d ago (Edited 5548d ago )

MS has most likely something to say about how and when products for their platform release.
To back that up, you can look at the fact that rpg's on the 360 release pretty much quickly after the japanese street that, that cannot be a coincidence.

And no, they could not take the time during development to fix bugs instead of localizing, because people that localize are not devlopers, and cant fix bugs and or are not authorized to do so.
( i am a certified software tester, so i know plenty about development processes).

And again, that bug comment of yours holds no ground, as it was just one game, Last remnant, no more then one game.

And i didnt mention that all the games in those list are from SE, they are just examples.
Thats just the way you interpret it, but not the way i meant it.

AND AGAIN, i didnt change, i added a few lines.
Its not like i changed text to change the context of my post, i merely added a few lines to back up my statements, so stop twisting things.
Its makes you look sad.

Dissidia was announced for June/July they pushed it back so far...................why WTF is wrong with SE

AllseeingEye5548d ago

Getting their pockets fat from MS is giving them more time to mess around and their product is suffering for it. If StarOcean does poorly then they better prey FFXIII can get out to NA faster then expected.

Foxgod5548d ago (Edited 5548d ago )

oh plz, how far fetched can you get, how much money do you think it takes to keep a company like SE running.

Do you really believe that MS is giving them so much money that they dont have to do anything anymore ?

Newsflash, money they Might get from MS, does not go into the pockets of the people working for SE, it goes into the pockets of the shareholders.

So the developers and designers working for SE dont get hot or cold from stashes that MS gives.

On top of that, you got any financial reports from SE that proof that MS is handing them loads of cash ?
Or are you just assuming it with no ground whatsoever holding it?

Howabout pointing fingers at those that are really to blame, blaming the wrong one, will not get anything changed.

I'm curious but is it possible to legally play these games without buying a psp?

luckytrouble1126d ago

You can play some of them on the Vita via PSN purchasing, but a PSP with a functional UMD drive is the only completely legal way to play games like FF7: Crisis Core.

WeAreLegion1126d ago

Some of them, yes. But most PSP games are locked to that system or digitally on Vita. The Vita's second analog stick is amazing for FPS games. I use an emulator to play many PSP games. I know that's illegal, but I wouldn't call it unethical. There's no way to give developers money for these games anymore. Unless you buy their new games. :)

Highly recommend Infected, if you get the chance.

Magic_Spatula1125d ago

Emulators aren't illegal. Unethical? Maybe. The issue companies have are how you obtained the games. If you got them through legal matters (such as making your own backups of games you own and not distributing them), they're mostly okay with that. If you got the through less..... ethical means, then yeah, it's a no-no in their eyes.

Fluke_Skywalker1125d ago

@Magic_Spatula Like he said, there is no legal way to buy most psp games anymore in a way that gives the developers any money. So yes emulators are normally illegal and unethical, but in this case its actually the only way to play some of these games, if you didn't buy the games many years ago.

Fluke_Skywalker1125d ago

Yeah they really need to give us a remake of that for PS4/5 I absolutely loved that game. Still the saddest ending to a video game ever.

SDuck1126d ago

The fact this has vanilla Dissidia instead of Duodecim tells me not to take the list serious. Duodecim is obviously the superior since it has the same content (story included) from the first game and (much) more

Magic_Spatula1125d ago

Yeah. Duodecim was basically an enhanced version of the original game.

My kid yesterday proclaimed he liked the DS more than the Switch because the controls work on the go. Then I asked if he would rather have Monster Hunter Stories 2 on Steam or Switch and he chose Steam. So proud!

Where the FUCK is Majoras Mask? 🙄
