Even now, very little concrete information about the unique title is available, but IGN knows from an official (and all-too-brief description), as well as screenshots and video, that if you like science fiction, you're going to want to lock your lasers on this one and stay tuned because it simply has a lot of potential.
In October of 2008, Nintendo showed off a compilation video of numerous Wii exclusive titles set to hit Japan in 2009. Among those games were titles such as Sin and Punishment 2, Dynamic Slash (known as Zangeki no REGINLEIV) and Cosmic Walker. The first of which, Sin and Punishment 2, has already been released in Japan and is hitting NA and EU shelves in early 2010. Zangeki no REGINLEIV was recently released in Japan with a special black casing -- showing Nintendo's support for the mature title, and a possible localization in other regions. The last of the three mentioned games, Cosmic Walker, has been shrouded with much mystery since its initial trailer and general tidbits of info.
With the very little amount of information known about Cosmic Walker, many different speculations can be made about the gameplay of this space set action-adventure title. There are two different ways Cosmic Walker can go -- both equally great: an exploration sim taking place in the Milky Way, or the tale of an epic adventure set in space.
Nintendo's keynote is just a few hours away and Nintendo of Europe released names of upcoming Nintendo titles. Could these be the games Satoru Iwata announces at GDC.
Cosmic Walker takes place on a space station and the screenshots show you're equipped with a gun. Gaia, the studio headed by Koji Okada (Megami Tensei developer) and team behind Monster Kingdom: Jewel Summoner, is making this game.
Spaaan Smasher (aka Spawn Smasher) you play as the grinning orange ball and smash into objects. Looks like a mix between a 2D platformer and pinball. Artoon is developing this game.
Line Attack Heroes has players use a line of followers as a weapon.
Friend Connection (aka Tomodachi Connection) is a Nintendo DS game with Miis of Nintendo executives like Shigeru Miyamoto (he sings in the game), Reggie Fils-Aime, and Satoru Iwata as the main characters. Nintendo is developing this game internally.
Nintendo has released first screenshots of Cosmic Walker for the Nintendo Wii, a new space action adventure game set to release next year in Japan. In the game, You play a cosmonaut on space stations and even the moon's surface.
If this is first party I wonder if it will shut up those "No new Ip's!" guys.
