Zentendo: Trace Memory Review

Trace Memory is an adequate title in its genre that manages to have a decent plot with likable characters, but its presentation is notably bare, as is its gameplay -- save for a handful of interesting DS-related puzzles. Hotel Dusk is definitely a refinement over this first DS production, but it will be interesting to see where the creators are able to go on the Wii with more tools at their disposal and more experience under their belt. As it is, fans of the genre may find some enjoyment out of Trace Memory, but it is more of an experimental title than a polished piece of work.

Pocket Power: Trace Memory

Though today you can stuff stereoscopic 3D and console-quality graphics into your backpack, that once seemed inconceivable. Handhelds have evolved quickly, but we shouldn’t forget the games that made them great in the first place. Though these games lack raw processing muscle, they have a power all their own.

Memories as a Stimulus for Existential Quests

"Contemplating the array of emotionally-charged ventures each of us can undertake on a personal level, breaking free from one's past can prove especially taxing. Of deep spiritual importance is the ability to conquer internal burdens, and in calling to mind the complexity of these lofty goals, thoughts can gravitate towards the necessity of arbitrary decisions. Yet, the encircling process -- often preceded by more insistent variables -- is similarly, if not more expansive and should therefore not be discounted. It entails the gathering and filtration of information, pulling in of internal resources, and, stemming from that, the acceptance of external assistance to aid in the satisfying of personal desires. But as the relationship between the characters Ashley and D in Trace Memory reflects, such entreaties for change can lead us astray in the management of our personal identities." -- Wiiloveit.com

TGS: Another Code: R review

Thatgamingsite writes:

"The return of the Another Code series is a pleasant one, but it isn't the most impactful. The transition from DS to Wii has been successful and Cing has brought with them the magic that made Another Code and Hotel Dusk so unique. If they had added voice acting, a slightly more mature story, and a higher level of challenge, then Another Code: R would constitute an essential Wii purchase. Fans of the series will be thrilled, but those on the bench will need to be more selective; it's good but not for everyone."
