There's a big nasty Catch-22 to creating a successful franchise: What happens when it's time to make a sequel? Fan comments usually produce a babbling crosstalk that could best be summed up by the phrase "make it exactly the same but completely different." Some developers just throw up their hands and keep milking a franchise until it's spent.
Then there's Relic Entertainment. Whether they succeed or fail, they're doing their level best to make a great game experience. That's the attitude that came across loud and clear during GameSpy's conversation with Tim Holman, Senior Producer for Tales of Valor, the latest standalone expansion for the terrific Company of Heroes franchise.
The Humble Company of Heroes Complete Bundle just launched. It includes Company of Heroes, Company of Heroes 2, Company of Heroes: Tales of Valor, and more.
GameZone writes, "The Humble Bundle might be one of my favorite things to spend money on each year. Not only because I get a good amount of games for very cheap, but I also get introduced to a lot of indie games that I would have otherwise missed out on.
This time though, the Humble Bundle doesn't include bite-sized indie titles; instead, we're treated to an amazing five THQ games with two expansions. What's more, each of those games (with the exception of one) have a sequel coming up, or did come out this year. Let's look at what exactly is offered here."
I would get it if I didn't already own all that interested me pretty much. I have Saints Row, Metro, and the GOOD Red Faction (Guerrilla). Not really interested in Company of Heroes... Darksiders interests me, but I'm not sure I really need it right now...
