Netbooks won't replace laptops, says survey

Netbooks may have been one of the hottest tech trends of 2008 but they won't replace laptops, according to a new survey by ABI Research.

In November, the market research company asked 1000 Americans about netbooks and mobile internet devices - and found that only 11 per cent of people would use a netbook as their main computer.

i cant believe anybody thought they would

netbooks are a fad imo

similar devices have come and gone throughout the years where they gather a following and then people realize the limitations

..and I'm using it right now.

I don't really think its a fad.

To me it's great for school and working on my car.

I can also use different external drives which is a plus, but it can't handle as much as say a laptop or desktop. It has its pros and cons.

Thinking it's going to replace laptops ain't gonna happen.

Yeah I could see how there practical but I stick with laptops.

Maybe not, but they're absolutely perfect for use as remote terminals & don't cost much more than a good KVM switch.
