Halo Franchise to Expand in "many different directions"

Eurogamer: "Microsoft Game Studios hopes to expand the Halo franchise in "many different directions", including new genres and entertainment not game-related at all.

"We tend to view the franchise side of Halo as an entertainment property, and something that we hope to expand in many different directions: both through additional genres of gaming and additional ways to tell the story that may not be game-related at all," Jason Pace, Halo Wars lead producer and Halo franchise overseer, told Eurogamer.

"So I think it's fair to say we're always looking for new opportunities, new genres to tell the story in. And whenever we find a great fit we'll pursue it."

i am not an expert but that sounds like milking a cow everyday of the week you need to give the cow a break or else he will no longer moo for you

....tell that to, Call of Duty, Need for Speed, Madden, Fifa, Gran Turismo, Metal Gear Solid games. They should all stop milking the so called 'cow', oh wait, they sell sh!tloads and so they will keep making them until the public stop buying them.

Surely the fact that they are trying to take the Halo games in different directions would be a good idea instead of sticking to the same old stuff. I would call milking the 'cow' when you don't change the formula year after year until it gets tired, repetitive and boring.

Blimey, that was a badly thought out comment. Did you even think about the fact that this means that Halo will try to invade all genres?

Halo isn't like Mario, it can't trounce around doing whatever it wants to do, playing 'Soccer', Baseball and hop around on large board games and it was Bungie who made it and the overall concept, not MS, MS can pass around Halo who who-ever they want, but I swear you will see a Crash Bandicoot/Spyro like decline in the design of the games since the licence being handed out to every developer under the sun.

None of the games you mentioned changed actual game genre except MG which got a seperate series 'Acid' not part of the 'Solid' series, anyone else wouldn't dare, thats a hell of a risk, apart from the case of platformers becoming karting games.

MS will only slowly ruin the glory of the Halo series that Bungie built upon with its "Halo Sells!!!" mentality, its obvious that filing Halo under every single type of game is distaster.
Halo was originally designed by Bungie to be an RTS so in theory Halo Wars COULD work, depends if people can actually be bothered playing an RTS, You could get away with a light gun game, a MMORPG, A MMOFPS, a 'Halo Tournament' like game, and thats about it, anything after that is overkill, also the fact that future FPS Halo will still be made around those. THAT is 'MILKING THE COW'.

If anyone really cares about the simple genius and universe of the Halo series Bungie developed since Halo:CE on the XBOX, they'd agree with me.
The future of Halo?...The fictional past of Matt Hazzard?
