The fuss over Sony's decision to drop hardware backwards compatibility from European versions of the PS3, will fade quickly.
Some hysterical commentators are predicting an "impending firestorm"; a public backlash. The fact is, it won't materialize. Why? Because backwards compatibility is No Big Deal; a lot of noise made by a vocal minority.
Over the last 25 years, there has been a fair few South Park games, and here GameSpew has ranked them all from best to worst.
We are going to see a lot of crap South Park products since they sold out to paramount years ago. It's their IP they can sell out, of course; it just means the quality of their show has tanked and other products as well. Nevertheless, they put on excellent musicals, but those haven't been sold to a mega corporation.
Game Rant chats with the creator of No More Heroes about who he would like to see play the role of Travis Touchdown in a live-action adaptation.
Actually Ryan Gosling makes a ton of sense.
Edit: If this can be done in a Scott Pilgrim movie kind of way that would be dope.
The Opening Levels that hooked gamers from the outset.
I've been saying BC wasn't that important TO ME since I brought my 360 a year ago.....however I understand there are some gamers who like to play their "old" favorites every now and then....what I still don't undestand is if they feel so strongly about BC then why not keep or continue to play them on the original console?...and if you just can't live without that old game that you already beat 100 times and you need a new PS2 they are really cheap right now.
For months the Sony fans have been slamming the 360 for not being fully backwards compatible. Now that they are facing the same thing.....it is the right decision?
I have agreed the entire time. Sony should focus on upconverting classic PS2 titles so that when they are played on the PS3, they look significantly better. I would consider the PS3 if I knew that older titles were upconverted, and anti aliased (I don't own a PS2, and will not buy one). If they do this, count me in.
Playing all your old games with AA and high res would be like playing them for the first time all over again. I'm actually more excited at the thought of BC then I was before so I dont see this as a bad thing at all. I agree with this guy, they should have done it earlier if they were going to do it. From the very start. i can only assume they weren't ready at the time and had enough on their plates just launching. Its not like launching a console is a little, easy thing.
I'd be very surprised if most say 80% or more, of the most popular (bestselling) games aren't supportted right away. Everyones acting like it only gonna be 10% or something, but I'm not overly worried. I think everyones way to alarmist. Sony not only need to make sure these games are supportted but they need to bring them to PSN like Tekken:DR. They have so many good games, they are sitting on a gold mine that would rival even Nintendo's VC. Imagine FFVII looking all prissy for 10 bucks. I gaurantee it would sell at least 2 or 3 million. Or probably even more once the userbase is up round 10 million. The game is even now still considered the bench mark and it could do it all again.
Anyway, I'm going on a bit, but like I said, I'm excited about this emulation thing now. Nothings actually been announced officially about improving games, we just know its technically possible so I hope they go with it. First title to be supproted, GoW 2.
"how many would pay an extra $30 or so to play all their PS2 games?" The new PS3 will not be sold at a lower price - pay the same for less function.
Sony made a big mistake with their hardware BC solution (development, layout, testing, the chips..). All for a selling period of 3 or 4 months. If they keep 2 versions in production its even worse. If it would not be important for the consumers the could have done it without hardware from the start. M$ increased their BC even later after launch.
I'm not pleased about the 50% BC of my 360 and i won't be about this.
I still have my old XBOX & PS2 but limited ports and space under my tv.
Would you like mustard with you foot fan boys.
This is why you need not follow what Sony says so close they will make you eat foot about evey 90 days.
