Lost Planet sequel in development

With news over the weekend that the Lost Planet film would be backed by a huge $150-$200 million budget, Capcom has also announced that a sequel to the game is in development. Capcom made the announcement via the Weekly Famitsu, a popular Japanese gaming magazine. The sequel will be due out for the PS3 and 360 in 2009, with some exclusive content for the Xbox 360 version.

Well people , I think there wont be any Capcom Exclusive games no more unless they are on the Nintendo wii.

Xandet5566d ago

"with some exclusive content for the Xbox 360 version"

I love how Capcom claims to be an unbiased game dev, now making all their games multi-plat, yet they pull crap like that. Bu-bu.. we gave you a s**tty Lost Planet port with s**tty extras! It's all a load of crap IMO. If you want everyone to get the most for their money, then GIVE EVERYONE A FAIR SHARE.

And if you think it's only because Lost Planet is a franchise that started on 360, then where was the PS3 gamers' exclusive content with DMC4, or even RE5 for that matter?

GameGambits5566d ago

I don't care which console it comes out for, because I own both. ;)

I'm just so excited to hear they are finally working on the sequel. This is the best news for 2009 since Killzone 2. Wooh! Cannot wait. :D

TheColbertinator5566d ago

@Xandet

Well to be fair Capcom has a history of screwing people over.

-They ported over Street Fighter II on the SNES to the Genesis. In the old days that was a huge exclusive lost to Nintendo.

-Capcom ditched both Nintendo and Sega when the PS1 came to the top with Resident Evil

-Capcom ignored the PS2 for the Gamecube by promising 5 exclusive games including Resident Evil 4 for Nintendo and giving Sony the cold shoulder.

-Capcom then turned around and gave up all the GC exclusives to Sony even though RE4 sold millions on the GC

-Capcom gave 2 exclusives to 360:Dead Rising and Lost Planet.Capcom the turns around and gives up Dead Rising to the Wii and Lost Planet to PS3.

-MS has payed millions for exclusive deals with Capcom like DLC and console bundles only to have Capcom make new deals with Sony on PSN and then the online director for Capcom insults MS in a recent interview.

IdleLeeSiuLung5566d ago

@zlatko:
Completely agree with you. Can't wait for the game to come out later this year!

@steven_colbert
What you are saying is indeed true. However, having the game released on multiple platforms never hurt the consumers so I don't care!

"Lost Planet sequel in development"

Yuck. Why?

"With news over the weekend that the Lost Planet film would be backed by a huge $150-$200 million budget"

YUCK. Why?!

Megaton5566d ago

That's the first thing I thought. The first one was terrible. I guess it must be really popular in Japan for them to invest so much into this title's future.

edhe5566d ago

It actually sold really well.

It looked much better than it was tbh, could've done with better 'cheves tho - and mechs that didn't feel like they were coal powered.

Apparently was popular online for a while.

http://www.vgchartz.com/gam...

2m+ estimation's enough for a sequel. I just hope that they get rid of the timed gameplay [use orbs for RPG style skills] actually use some proper voice actors and maybe put some more structure into the levels, and more checkpoints, speed up the mechs and make the controls more elegant.

Ah yeah, make the running speed faster and the MP more accessable - dropping into a warzone isn't fun when all the other guys have mechs and you're dead.

I_LOVE_MYSELF5566d ago

bu bu but Killzone1 was crap too and is getting a sequel

NickIni5566d ago (Edited 5566d ago )

Many people disagree. There is no "crap game". Just because you didn't like it, doesn't make it 'crap'.

EDIT: Wow! I guess GTA IV is a 'crap game' then because I didn't like it! According to some people anyway...

Why dis5566d ago

How is PS3 center getting this news when the whole media is clueless?

TheColbertinator5566d ago

Simple. The original news is from Famitsu.PS3center has a copy of the Japanese mag or a contact in Japan who has the new issue

Why dis5566d ago

Been looking for other sources for hours here and there lol.

I just keep getting quotes of the info provided by PS3 center in all no name underground PS3 sites.

Firstkn1ghT5566d ago

Dead Rising 2 and Lost Planet 2 coming out? WOW! Love me Capcom games.

Why dis5566d ago

Lost planet is a very cool concept. Can't wait to see what they have in store.

Hope it isn't downgraded.

Firstkn1ghT5566d ago

They're probably going to use the ps3 as lead since the 360 can easily handle their ports like the recent DMC. The ps3 on the other hand has a hard time handling the 360's ports.

Why dis5566d ago

Why would they waste their time? they didn't even bother with the collectors edition. Outside of Japan PS3 owners hate LP.

I don't think capcom will lead on PS3 they rather get attacked than not try to make a game as good as can be(will be fine with games of different qualities)

Why dis5566d ago (Edited 5566d ago )

This PS3 site is running around saying these games are confirmed to be coming to PS3.

They are simply announcing the new LP and DR2 and saying they are thinking about a multi platform focus.

http://kotaku.com/5140686/n...

Here is the original supposed text while PS3 center says confirmed for PS3, they only mention that they are "thinking about" multi platform allegiance.

Going Multi platform could mean anything from these games going to Wii, PC and PS3 to other games in the future. lol

EDIT Below:

So says the person that didn't even mention the topic but goes on to personal attack. The Irony

Omegasyde5566d ago

Wow, I bet you two couldn't go into a 360 only thread without trolling against Sony.

GJ you two. Thanks for making the open zone, absolutely pointless.

Sez 5566d ago

either way i will still be getting these games on the 360.

This is absolutely amazing! To this day Lost Planet is still my all time favorite online game. Love the Lost planet franchise!

ActualWhiteMan1889d ago

Glad I kept this one. Great game, very underrated.

Movefasta19931889d ago

lost planet 1 and 2 are gems imo

spicelicka1889d ago

2 is the one with 4 player co-op right? That was amazing! Being able to fight giant monsters in co-op was so awesome. It was like Monster hunter with guns.

Movefasta19931888d ago

it had an underrated pvp mode too

5 Capcom Games that Deserve the Resident 2 2019 Treatment

Resident Evil 2 2019 launches in a few short weeks and it looks, and plays, amazing. Capcom has taken the classic and renowned title and not only modernized the visuals but added new content to keep the experience fresh for veterans who played the original. But there are some games that deserve the same treatment from Capcom. Here are 5 games from Capcom that deserve the Resident Evil 2 2019 treatment.

FallenAngel19841934d ago

Not another one of these “treatment” articles

darthv721933d ago

Remasters are still popular so... yeah.

I personally like when there are remastered compilations. More than just remaking one game but to take a couple (or more) in a series and remake them as one nice compilation. Viewtiful Joe comes to mind. to have a full remake of all the games on one disc would be sweet.

I know many want to see Powerstone come back (as do I) but i'd go even deeper into their vault and bring back darkstalkers, cyberbots or even project justice / rival schools combo.

FallenAngel19841933d ago

This isn’t a remaster it’s a remake

galmi1934d ago

well for me there's
dino crisis
clock tower
haunting ground
resident evil 3
the whole onimusha series (except 4)
chaos legion
crimson tears
ring of red

PapaBop1934d ago

Imagine Clock Tower done in a similar style to RE7 in first person with VR support.. that would be so so damn good.

SuperDuke12901934d ago

That would be superawesome

JonTheGod1934d ago

I loved Haunting Ground. Very underrated.

Adexus1934d ago

Onimusha instantly came to mind.

JonTheGod1934d ago

Already happening (although it's a remaster as opposed to a remake).

Adexus1933d ago

Yeeeah, I definitely wouldn't say that's nearly on the level the RE2 Remake is.

monkey6021934d ago (Edited 1934d ago )

This is a horrible list!
There are a load of titles far more deserving of a remaster than these picks. Seriously ! Dead Rising, Lost Planet and Dragons Dogma aren't even old games and have had recent sequels already!

Top of the list should be Dino Crisis,
I'll accept Resi 3 because I'm hoping that happens.
Clock tower and Haunting Ground are good choices too, It would be nice to be able to get them for a non extortionate rate.

Shadow of Rome was an amazing game and I'd love a remaster or new entry but I genuinely don't think they'd get away with it today unless it was massively toned down

Vetalka831934d ago

Resident Evil 3 yes,Dino Crisis games?Yes.Onimusha 2 hell yes.never got to play Powerstone properly so yeah i would love to see it remade, others on that list i just dont care about.
