Congratulations Nintendo. XD

I will wait for Dreamcastguy reaction video, he said that this will flop and no one cares about switch 2.

I've got to agree about congratulating Nintendo here... I have been very outspoken about my dislike for Nintendo. I hate on them quite a lot. The Switch 2 has been nothing but phenomenal since I got my hands on it though. It's everything I wanted and more. The only issue is the battery life, but I fully expected that. My gaming laptop dies within 1-2 hours when it's off the cord. When you're pushing out great graphics, at great resolutions with high FPS in handheld. It's bound to drop the battery life quickly.

I will 100% get an OLED model especially if they up the battery life on it. I didn't bother with Switch 1's revision, but Switch 2 has already won me over.

100% same here, except I won't bother with just an OLED upgrade since I play docked 95% of the time. If they up the battery life substantially, then I might be moved...

It’s great and all to congratulate successful launch in gaming. But can we stop with the false narratives? Like it’s been, “”3 million sold first 24 hours, best console launch sells” “3.5 first 4 days! High demand and supply!”

Then you see people comparing it to ps5, series X and portal sales trying to make it seem like those console launches were bad because they sold out. Even though it was covid and limited components and parts for mass production of the devices.

You can appreciate your devices success without spinning false comparisons. I am personally waiting until donkey Kong drops before considering getting one.

People seemed to forget at one point they made huge excuses against getting a ps5 or Xbox series X because “they just played ps4/xbox games at higher frame rates” but now the switch 2 which literally does the same thing isn’t getting any call outs for that?

This is why I vaguely participate in the gaming community threads because the goal post moving and inability to appreciate all of gaming makes it vastly unappealing discussing with others this medium.

Tl;dr

Congrats on a stable launch, looking forward to more games and how they push this device. Good gaming to all

I could quote some people who told it will be a failure or there will be the WII U effect hehe

Neonridr1d 1h ago

the amount of people who were so certain this thing was going to flop..

Good-Smurf1d 3h ago

Still too early to tell atm if it's a sure success, there are numerous consoles that came out of the gate running with record breaking sales and then simply lost the steam and came up well short of its previous console.
High game prices and accessories will slowly cripple them over time if Nintendo do nothing about it.
Crazy how many are willing to pay full price for years old game and it's often the worst version to play on, they're just desperate for something to go with a new console and it shows even listing NSO 20-year-old GC games to padding out their launch titles.
Congrats I guess to whomever enjoyed it for new high prices.

Neonridr1d 1h ago

I paid full price for MK World. The S2 is the only place to play it on. When you can play portably, people are willing to make some sacrifices. It's not like the S2 version is ugly or unplayable, even if it doesn't compare directly to say a PS5 version.

but keep crying.

MDTunkown21h ago

It probably will outsell WiiU in less than a year

ZeekQuattro11h ago

It's a given it will and people will be constantly moving goalposts like they had to for the orginal Switch every sales milestone. 😆

Nintendo is pretty anti-consumer...and with this kind of success, they will continue to give us all the middle finger.

-Foxtrot17h ago

I don't know why people are disagreeing with this

You can be a fan, but why be a bootlicker to anti consumer practices

If hypothetically the sales were decent but not to Nintendo's expectations with their being a clear united push online against these high price points, Microsoft wouldn't have dared done the same with The Outer Worlds 2 or at least they'd have backtracked pretty quickly. At least then it would have scared others off.

I don't want to see anyone crying on here about future price increases, especially if Rockstar does it if they supported this Day one.

repsahj13h ago

LOL. Every company is anti-consumer. As if M$ and Sony are not doing the same.

-Foxtrot7h ago(Edited 7h ago)

I didn’t say the others weren’t, the article is about Nintendo, so I’m talking about Nintendo…

I mean I literally mention Microsoft doing the same.

I mean, did anyone think the Switch 2 would be comparable to current-gen? Yea, I’m pretty sure it’s going to give you PS4 quality looking/playing games and in a couple years we’ll be onto PS6 and most third-party games will either be downgraded to hell or just not be available on Switch 2 🤷‍♂️.

OtterX1h ago

for a handheld it's quite nice, but don't go in expecting a serious console. Keep your PS5 and/or PC. You can tell a huge difference in those long distance shots w the foilage/grass. But again on an 8 inch screen, I bet it looks and plays decent enough.

Neonridr41m ago

the way I look at it, the PS4 Pro still had some gorgeous games. If I could have games that looked like TLOU2 on the system, would I really care about what it would look like on a PS5? No.

OtterX35m ago(Edited 35m ago)

Only on my 55" 4k do I care for that extra oomph. I would be blown away to have a game on par graphically w the PS4 Pro version of TLOU II on a handheld!
