Richard Bailey Jr. of The Koalition writes: 007 First Light dominated the video game news headlines when it was revealed by IO Interactive earlier this week. I remember the 007 games on ps2 were all decent. Nightfire i believe it was called.
This one looks interesting and could be on my radar
I meant this looks like uncharted. Which kudos to Uncharted for inspiring so much in today's games.
Problem I have with this is the art direction looks weird to me. Some of the animations look cartoonishly exaggerated, like that weird wind up and speed up look… and I’m not digging the Bond look. That all being said, knowing IOI, it’ll be a fun time, I just hope the art direction isn’t super distracting.
To me it looks unique.
Given Hitman III, and how good it looks and still was a cross gen game, they could've went for the more photo realistic look easily since this 007 game is current gen only. But it could've looked generic among the recent swarm of UE5 based games with pre built photo scanned assets.
This just have a deliberate unique touch that only dedicated veteran team can offer with experienced artists/designers. And couple that with hallmark IOI gameplay, it'll be even more unique. Just give it a chance. Don't write it off yet (reserve that for the countless UE5 based games being churned out). Also glacier engine will offer better perf than UE5.
Oh I ain’t denying it’s not “unique,” it’s a matter of preference and it’s off-putting to me visually.
I have no doubt it’ll be great to play. But for me, personally, I don’t like the look and slightly exaggerated animations. It’s just more cartoony looking than what I want from a Bond game.
Should have waited for the new movie and used the new actor whoever that turns out to be. Not a fan off the charector model on show

They could have done an accurate Bond from Flemings description / sketch of him.
There's a big chance the new Bond under the new leadership be Cavill and with the new MI series being so Bond-esque yet at the same time so futuristic, the new Bond story/theme might target classics era like 60s/70s to appear unique.
Both of which I'd argue are in many ways inspired by the bond films/games of the past. Especially some aspects of uncharted which basically draws from any action film/game it can.
It looks like the rumors are true as the reveal has been confirmed for this week.
Looking forward to it but that title is pretty generic for a Bond title.
It just reminds me of Infamous First Light.
There's a suggestion they want it to be part of a trilogy, so maybe the name will make more sense if/when the two follow-ups are announced.
For example:
First Light / Daylight / Final Light
First Light / Second Sight / Final Rite
Both VERY poor examples (I'm no writer, after all... These would be terrible names!) but it illustrates the idea.
Also, 'Agent Under Fire', 'Nightfire' and 'Bloodstone' are all pretty rubbish titles compared to Bond films.
Even 'Skyfall' seems like a fairly mediocre title when taken out of context.

I mean none of those have a title like Octopussy
Quantum of Solace is a title of one of the original short stories by Ian Fleming.
The story of the movie is not based on that short story, however.
Yeah the name is a non-issue, I’m more interested in how they handle Bond’s appearance since there’s currently no movie Bond - will it be some fictional new guy? Daniel Craig? Some kind of selector where we can pick from Connery, Brosnan, etc? (unlikely unless they can somehow tune the voice acting per face option with AI)
I’m guessing 3rd person given their Hitman background but would be happy with either 1st or 3rd. Perfect Dark is gonna be a 1st person game, getting made by the Tomb Raider devs

Someone asked me who Bond would look like. I said it would be great to have the new Bond reveal as part of it but likely an amalgamation of Bond characteristics.
I think they'll go for a version that more closely fits his description from the original novels. What you can see here fits that fairly well. I hope they'll set this in the era of the original books, rather than it be modern day, but who knows.
I really like the look of his coat from this! A minor detail, but it looks promising.

I think it will start in like 60's / 70's to end up in present time, they aim for a trilogy after all:
"It's completely beginning and becoming a story, hopefully for a big trilogy out there in the future. And equally important and exciting, it's a new Bond," IOI boss Hakan Abrak said in October.
"Featuring a wholly original Bond story, players will step into the shoes of the world's favorite Secret Agent to earn their 00 status in the very first James Bond origin story."
We'll presumably find out when it is revealed.
I hope they take what makes Hitman so good (dynamic missions, multiple paths, etc.) and apply it to the James Bond license. That way we'd get the choice of action or stealth. Adding in dialogue options could make for a good shift in that gameplay style too.
They have ported Hitman games to be so it's possible but I wouldn't expect it immediately
