FGS Live From GDC unveiled a gameplay deep dive for The Alters, an emotive and though provoking sci-fi game with a unique blend of survival, adventure, and base-building elements. You play as Jan Dolski — the sole survivor of an ill-fated space expedition, who creates alternative versions of himself to escape a hostile planet and tackle personal turmoils with his unconventional crew of clones. The Alters is coming to PC, PS5, Xbox Series X and S in 2025.
The Alters is a sci-fi colony sim with the fun twist that everyone in that colony is a clone of your main character. As you build out your mobile base on the hostile planet you’re stranded on, those clones develop their own quirky personalities. Ultimately, The Alters is about whether you can get along with yourself well enough to survive.
