Follow up to Resistance Confirmed, Ted Price Interview

Ted Price is the President and CEO of Insomniac games. MyGEN recently arranged a special Interview with him while he was visiting in Australia. Ted is here as a guest for the Media Launch of the Playstation 3, and a special guest with Sony at the IEAA Awards last Friday night.

Ted was a great guy to talk with and MyGEN had a great time asking him some questions about the Playstation 3, HD-DVD and Blue Ray and how he thinks he will be able to keep expanding the boundaries of the Playstation 3 development. There are some interesting questions about the multiplayer for Resistance as well as well as talk of the next Resistance. Just download it now to hear it all.

This game is decent.. not nearly as good as Halo 2 but a sequel has potential imo. The hardest difficulty was actually really easy and the multiplayer is ruined by aim assist (I can't miss.. and I'm not even used to a ps2/ps3 controller).. FFA is kind of lame if you ask me considering it's just who can steal the most kills as everyone dies and spawns in a matter of seconds (right next to each other)

This game is awesome IMO. IG has done a great job with this game and has already added a couple of updates to the online experience (with more in the works). The campaign mode has ample length and a great story. Calling Super Human mode easy is a stretch and playing it straight up would be challenging for a lot of gamers (obviously those with vast FPS shooter experience won't find any offline mode that challenging on any game).

I will agree that on certain maps it gets crowded online but playing against 40 people at the same time with no lag is pretty sweet. :-) Not gonna attempt to compare it to Halo 2 as I've never played it. But, R:FoM is a fantastic game and a must have for any PS3 owner. They leave the ending open for a sequel so this is of no surprise but good news to hear nonetheless.

You can turn off "aim assist".
In my personal opinion weapons are what it makes this game FUN. It is first person shooter made very well.

One thing I forgot to mention also was off air Ted talked about a few other things. One thing was that he really kept an eye on http://www.myresistance.net... it's their own community site. They take the feedback there very seriously so if you want to voice any feedback make sure to check it out.

P.S. guys if anyone wants to host the file they can just add an alternate source. Damm prices for everything down under is expensive - that includes hosting.

It´s nice to read an honest post. I mean it´s very nice to see that you´re not gonna try and make any comparison to Halo 2 because you did´nt play it. It´s very seldom you come across posts with that kind of honesty because threads are mostly flooded with mindless fanboyism. Kudos from a not so mindless Xbox 360 fanboy :)

RFOM let me down big time. I was expecting at least Gears of War level graphics, but what let me down most was the gameplay. With Gears I felt like I was in a movie in some parts. In RFOM it felt like I was playing a videogame, pardon the pun. Multiplayer in RFOM is fun unless you have been playing Battlefield series, or pretty much any online FPS in the past three years. Yeah, it's great being able to have so many people on the board at once, but it's just a mindless melee.

Chromehounds and Rainbow Six are much more intense and fun in multiplayer.

First of all it had amazing graphics for a launch title and I'm sure insomniac wanted more time with the game, but because it had a deadline they had to be done before the ps3 launched.
Second of all it has a great story with great weapons(these are the guys who did Ratchet and Clank)so the weapons wore unique.
And third of it has one of the best online experience for any console game to date in my opinion, 40 players in one game and no lag, you could get a game started with in 10 seconds. Also the maps are really big so it not crowded and sometime I feel like that i alone in this game because the maps are so huge it feels like a real life battle seen, but there are also smaller maps on the game for 8 players in one game, those are also fun too. I'm not sure but there might be at least 15 maps available and for every has a limitation for how many players can play in this map without the place feeling overcrowded. And did i mention it is lag free and online if free thanks to the PSN (play station network)

And now i cant wait for the next one i hope they do like 80 players in one huge map, that would be crazy

Having played resistance I have to say I liked it, Its nothing really special but it is really fun. The weapons also kick ass. Chapters should be good.

Xbox 360 needs a shooter like Resistance where the multiplayer is server based. I am tired of the lag and connection problems when anything more than 3 or 4 players are playing. I am not talking EA servers either--they suck!

I can't wait to see it so I can kill aliens in my home city! We don't get that kind of thing in the UK...it will be a triumph to see all our cities recreated :P (if not completely accurately)

Admittedly, it took me a few stages to warm up to the game, add the fact that I've never been a fan of mouseless FPS's anyway.

But in a short time, the game's depth, storyline, and top-notch graphics & animation will keep you addictively drawn in.

My only gripe is the tunnel-vision-like split screen two player mode. God, it's nauseating.

But all in all, THIS is what a launch title should be.

this is was the best fps in in about a year 1/2 it just plain and simple fun the second best game i played last year (gears #1 by the way) a number 2 will have a game of the year potentail

This game is really amazing. The graphics are great, but most impressive is the physics and amount of on screen activity. I've never seen any game present this detail quite like Resistance.

Its an amazing game. I may agree that I wanted more in the graphics dept. The influences of already played Gears of War affected my judgement on this game. I learned that graphics arent everything, and even if I really believe that RESISTANCE looks awesome, is in the gameplay where it shines. RESISTANCE graphics were better than most 360 shooters, with lots of things happening onscreen. I admit that it has some bad concepts in the artistic design, but overall its great. The enemies, weapons, backgrounds, textures; all look great. Maybe they lack the textures variety of GEARS, but what 360 fanatics and the press dont tell is the Gears suffer from some dissapearing and bad resolution textures. They are minimal but when compared against the overall polish of the game and after played it from the second get go they looked really bad.

Contrary playing RESISTANCE for the second time preved how good the graphics in this game were. It could be better, but for a first gen game in a very complicated console tey are good enough. Its RESISTANCE worth $600? NO!!!. Its Gears worth $400? NO. I dont bougth one console just to play one game. I look forward to PS3 games more than the 360. I gave a second chance to MS just for GEARS I admitt. Sonys future is more interesting. Im anxiously waiting for games like Motorstorm, Lair, Heavenly Sword, Drakes Fortune, Warhawk, KILLZONE and others. Im going to buy multiplatform games on the PS3, not because they are better, just because Im afraid that my 360 suffer the "rings of death" again. So 360 for me is just for exclusives like Gears, Halo 3( even if Im not impressed with what was shown) Mass Effect, Blue Dragoon and the best of them BIOSHOCK.

So fanatics, dont judge a game without even played it. Dont believe in others opinions, believe in yours. Dont get overhyped from one good game in your fav console. Sometime, like with Gears, fanatics, MS and the press; make the game look wayyy better then it really is. So try it yourself and you could see. FANATICS IF YOU DONT LIKE IT...

You have to bear in mind that GOW uses EPIC's own in house developed UNREAL engine. This is a very new and powerfull game development tool. So its obvious GOW looks amazing but its still a 3rd person tactical shooter. i.e....Crap.

It did not make me want to buy the system, like the following games that led to a purchase of the system (and game) within a month of playing the kiosk

- Zelda Wind Waker made me buy a 'Cube(the cel shaded graphics didn't bother me once I tasted the gameplay)
- Super Mario DS made me buy a DS Lite
- GT3 made me buy a PS2

My XBox and 360 did not need trials before purchasing...

Look, the game seemed to be a solid shooter, but with little else out that I can't play on my 360, $800 (system(need the WiFi), game, component cables, headset and tax on all that, to play RFOM is not worth it...but to play MGS4 and FFXIII, it just might be - when those games actually release.
