Nintendo is a vile company with the most anti-consumer tactics. I'm never giving Nintendo another penny of my money ever again.

LoLCryBabyGamers24d ago

Good for you? what does that have to do with the article? or you just needed to complain?

anast24d ago

You're complaining about a complaint without talking about the article. You are doing the same.

RedDevils23d ago (Edited 23d ago )

LoLCryBabyGamers is just a cry baby.

Anyway I just hack it instead lol

neutralgamer199224d ago

Haven't given them a single penny since SNES. Their fans defend them like they are a cult and no matter what will buy $80-$90 games and be happy with it

It's ironic that the company with the least powerful console started to charge the most for hardware, software and accessories. It will be very interesting to see how NS2 will perform once the release hype goes down. I don't see many family gamers spending that type of money

Lol

It's mindset like yous who said it's only cosmetics when micro transactions started, it's the same mindset that said no one is forcing you to buy them once those micro transactions started to affect gameplay and now here we are again. If we don't speak up these prices will keep going up and up. But who am I kidding gamers have the weakest backbone anyway

darthv7224d ago

Its a rather simple observation. Just replace X system (you do not care about) with Y system (you do) and then see how people respond.

UnbreakableAlex24d ago

I can proudly say, I've never spend a penny on a micro transaction. Neither will I on the Switch 2. 90€ games my ass.

Profchaos24d ago

I love my ps5 but it's not a good fit for a family system it's why I'll be getting a switch 2

the cost of a switch 2 isn't as bad as you think it is in Australia it's going to be the cheapest console available when Xbox and PlayStation have both raised their prices

It's portable which is huge for families this can not be understated if your going on a roadtrip and looking at 15 hours in the car a switch is invaluable the switch 2 is the next evolution of this.

It has games you can feel comfortable leaving your family playing solo yes PlayStation has great games aimed at kids but the quantity of its kid friendly library is very limited astrobot and crash games are not as prevalent as they used to be sadly and no I don't consider fornite or Roblox kid friendly or anything with guns kid friendly or online play user generated content nothing like that should be.

Multiplayer games that bring the family together are not as prevalent on PlayStation or Xbox there's no real Mario kart, Mario party etc style games they just don't exist

switch right now has extremely robust parental controls which most modern consoles have but there's no bespoke PlayStation parental controls app you can shut the system down set alarms etc

I think the switch 2 will be the perfect system for families more than any other console right now it's not perfect but it has the most to offer content wise in bringing families together.

Ps5conehead24d ago

That’s what is called personal choice if you do not want to spend money on them a cult . Well I went out got a high paying job. Others do it to. So if I are anyone else wants to pay 80 are 99 dollars. Then we will. It is up to each other if they feel there getting value for there money. Like deciding to buy first class over economy. I buy first. It’s more expensive but now being disabled. I feel I get the value of the extra cost. Gaming has always been an expensive hobby. I knew that when I bought my first console. So don’t spend your money if you do not want to. But everyone has a reason they do things. And that dose not mean there in a cult

GhostScholar24d ago

I don’t think Nintendo fans are nearly as in the clouds as Sony fans.

Profchaos24d ago (Edited 24d ago )

@ps5conehead totally agree not everyone lives life minimum wage so what's it to anyone else how you choose to spend your money and gaming has always been expensive look at consoles like the 3d0 with inflation it costs more than the ps5 pro today.

If you want it then you'll save to buy it. What I'm not buying is the people complaining about it were ever going to buy one in the first place there's so many people who are overall just butthurt that the switch wasn't the failure they wanted it to be

Neonridr23d ago

the only cult around N4G is Sony, I'm sorry. It's comical you think otherwise.

It's important to recognize how modern gaming has shifted. The Nintendo Switch 2’s hardware operates under a license model, meaning Nintendo ultimately retains control—even if you've purchased the device. This also applies to physical game copies, which increasingly only include download links, reinforcing the idea that you're purchasing a license, not true ownership. Unfortunately, this is becoming the norm in today’s gaming industry.

The analogy often used is “buying a first-class ticket doesn’t affect economy class,” but in gaming, that doesn’t hold. When consumers normalize $90 games by willingly paying those prices, it sets a precedent that affects everyone—especially as publishers gauge how far they can push pricing. This is exactly how microtransactions started: a few people saying “it’s just cosmetic” or “I can afford it,” which snowballed into a revenue model more profitable than actual game sales for many studios.

So yes, while it’s your money and your choice, the broader impact is real. Higher prices and licensed-only content limit consumer rights and give publishers more room to increase costs with little resistance. The ripple effects eventually reach every gamer.

Just because the Switch 2 sells out at launch doesn't guarantee long-term success. We've seen this before—Xbox One and Series X both had strong launches but struggled once the hype died down. Launch sellouts are often driven by FOMO, not necessarily sustainable demand.

The more telling metric will be long-term sales and retention, especially considering Nintendo's core audience: families. With inflation and rising costs of living, it's unlikely many families will consistently spend $90 per game. Higher prices do have an effect, particularly in a market where parents are budgeting for multiple expenses.

And while some people seem eager to defend price hikes by pointing to launch sales, celebrating a sold-out console doesn’t address the real concern: Nintendo (and others) using that momentum to justify premium pricing going forward. The worry isn’t whether Switch 2 fails—it’s whether this shift leads to a gaming environment where affordability and ownership continue to erode

I wonder if that complaint is backwards compatible

Nah I'm good the price for the Switch 2 and its games just not worth it at this point. Maybe when the Switch 2 drops in price I might snag one.

anast24d ago

Those 20 games are going to cost $1,600 or more.

gamerz24d ago (Edited 24d ago )

It all started that day the intern suggested to increase the price of the Switch 2 instead of cutting the price of the older consoles like had traditionally been done. Everyone laughed except Furukawa, the CEO, who started slow clapping from the head of the table.

Once they saw everyone joined into a thunderous applause. Then suggestions started flying; increase game prices, download codes only, brick the systems remotely! At one point the CFO shouted out uncontrollably as he went into spasms on the floor.

Profchaos24d ago

Has anyone actually read the article.

Or are we all gathered to bi**h and moan about the price most of the internet has moved on and yet here the same people are still carrying on.

badz14924d ago

hahaha so $80 is fine now and people have moved on? Nintendo is so lucky to have sheepish fans with the memory capacity of goldfish

Profchaos24d ago (Edited 24d ago )

The article is about top 20 games to play on switch 2 why are we talking about price

$80 is going to be the new industry standard like it or not I don't but I also don't plan on buying games for that price if you shop around and buy physical you will not pay that

Nintendo, Microsoft and Sony will all be charging $80 by the holidays

Ps5conehead24d ago

So keep your wallet closed then others are willing to pay it. No they have people who have the income to buy the 80 dollar games. It’s there money. They can use it the way they see fit.

Neonridr23d ago

wait until Sony and MS charge the same and you can say "just the price of current gen"

badz14923d ago

I'm still salty Sony is charging for online MP, what makes you think I will be ok if they raise their prices? it's bad enough that PS+ prices keep getting up!! Sorry but I will not be cheering and supporting Sony to raise their prices and make $80 a norm. if they do it, then it will be the end of me buying day 1. I can wait, no problem. The good thing is, their games go down in prices reasonably soon most of the time. - UNLIKE NINTENDO!

But it's amazing that you guys choreographically cheering on Nintendo's absurd new pricing while at the same time deflecting it by saying that Sony will follow suit too, almost like praying that it will happen so Nintendo will not be blamed or ridiculed for this decision. bravo! Nintendo really appreciates your pom pom moves! keep cheering!

MS is already following this disgusting step from their latest announcement, despite trying their best making physical media redundant. their games will be $80 soon and guess who's not gonna be there paying $80? THIS GUY, ME!

Profchaos23d ago (Edited 23d ago )

@neonridr it's the cult of Sony effect if Sony does it then we will blame someone's else.

Sony literally just raised the price of a 5 year old console to well above launch price but because it hasn't hit the US yet everyone's here complaining about Nintendo and Xbox it's inevitable.

I got an email that Sony now wants $214 AUD per year for deluxe (top tier no streaming)

High pricing sucks industry wide raising prices is not a reactionary thing regardless of what Nintendo was going to do with the switch 2 price Xbox was always going to raise the price and so was Sony.

Xbox has announced $80 games now and they are shipping then not on disc doom is already going out early to pre order holders but it can't be played until the date crosses because you own nothing

gold_drake24d ago

i should not have to shop around to get a cheaper price tho.

so i get that people are pissed.

Profchaos24d ago (Edited 24d ago )

But the same holds true for RRPs of $60 or $70 if you shop around you might get that 60 dollar game for 50 as an example.

I'm always going to spend 20 minutes searching for the cheapest price before buying a game for full RRP

nice improvement to the clarity. Really makes everything look less blurry, especially in the distance.

really hope we see more free improvements like this on Switch 1 games.

Jin_Sakai14h ago

First game I played on Switch 2. Much sharper and cleaner image compared to the original.

Snookies1213h ago

A lot of games that have no official Switch 2 update already run WAY better just from the hardware itself. It's fantastic getting to play all these games in a much better state. So glad I hardly played any of my Switch collection over the years, lol. This will make experiencing them for the first time so much better.

Levii_9213h ago

A nice resolution upgrade to one of my fav games but i’m still not buying the Switch “2”

darthv7212h ago(Edited 12h ago)

This and Mario/Bowser are ones I will pop in later. I hope other devs offer some patches, like xenon racer on SW1 is 30fps and it really is better at 60.

Goodguy0112h ago(Edited 12h ago)

Great it was 60 frames on switch 1 though. Definitely sacrificed resolution however.

Neonridr11h ago

I mean it targeted 60 on the Switch 1, but it wasn't always solid.

GhostScholar10h ago

I’ll never know why fans let Nintendo get away with not competing graphically and never putting their games on sale.

Chard7h ago

Unfortunately the games are fun. They’ve got us by the balls

GhostScholar6h ago

I’m a fan of their exclusives as well but if the hardware had the same capabilities as the x and ps5 and I could have all the third party stuff plus the Nintendo exclusives it would be my main console
