Canada – 12-Month Subscription Prices:

Essential: CAD 109.99
Extra: CAD 189.99
Premium: CAD 224.99

What a trash bull**** move! They don’t even do Essential sales anymore unless your subscription lapses. 😤

Profchaos10d ago

Yeah I'm cancelling I feel like they are robbing me at this point I've had a ps plus Sub since the ps3 era

RedDevils9d ago

Same here too, if it wasn't for me already subbed for them already I would unsub to them this instant.

Ps5conehead9d ago

How are they robbing you. Did Sony hold a gun to your head to pay for it

SegaSaturn6699d ago

224?! holy cow, that's expensive. Go directly to steam, do no pass go. Do not collect 224 dollars.

Gardenia9d ago

Here in Europe those prices are already standard.

yenevar9d ago

The price after currency exchange is the same as the US price, actually it's still a little cheaper.

And Canadians actually have much higher minimum wage even after taxes.

GenoPurpel9d ago

Oh lord. $225 is still $225. Our salary to buying power is roughly the same across NA. If anything we have less buying power with what we earn and the cost of things because everything is significantly more expensive.

Regardless currency exchange withstanding, it’s not a price US folks would want to pay if they had to. They don’t even wanna pay $80 for games when we’ve had to pay $100 for 2+ years now.

It’s ridiculous thankfully I only sub every few months for one month at a time if I feel like there’s something I really wanna play online or play through plus but it’s getting hard even justifying that.

And pffffft if you think Canadians who make minimum wage can afford video games as a hobby, well I got news for you

yenevar9d ago (Edited 9d ago )

That's not how exchange works.

Just like 225 Peso is not the same as 225 CAD.

Factually all the adjustments that have been made have been equalizing the the price to current currency valuations.

If you want to be mad and cancel your subscription that's well within your rights, but you can not deny the factual reason why it's happening.

https://duckduckgo.com/?q=2...

225 CAD = 162.53 USD

PlayStation Plus Premium: 12 Month Subscription

$159.99 USD

So at current rate you're paying $2.52 more, though yesterday when I checked it was a few cents less159.87, that's how quickly the valuation can change.

Profchaos9d ago

The minimum wage argument is a outdated concept it doesn't take into account buying power.

When we look at buying power of citizens in a country it takes into account the economic climate which includes cost of living, taxes, market conditions etc

So to give an example a sandwich in the US might be 5 dollars but in Canada it's 10 dollars (I don't know exacts here I'm not from either country). So if the minimum wage is higher in the Canada but the sandwich costs more because of higher minimum wages, cost of goods and transport along with tax the buying power is different.

yenevar8d ago

If a sandwich costs $5 and minimum wage is $7 you can buy 1 sandwich.

If minimum wage is $20 and a sandwich is $10 you can buy 2 sandwiches.

It seems like the prices are coming more into line with what US is already paying once you factor in the US/Canada conversion rate. Sucks for Canadians though.

I really like Playstation, but this generation was the last for me. Im going to build a mid PC or buy a Steam deck or even get the Switch 1 and see what i missed al these years. But im done with PS. Ps plus prices and games, paying to play online, overpriced games, every game is running on Decima engine, thats how they killed God of War, the same engine is used on Killzone, Rigs, Until Dawn 1 and 2, Horizon 1 and 2, Deathstranding a similar made by N. Dog is used by Last of Us and Days Gone. We are playing the same game over and over. The ps5 color and design is ugly imo, all that white and all those prices that recently have gone up.

HectixRose9d ago

Yup, worst thing is, at this point gamepass ultimate is better value compared to extra and premium. You get day one aaa games instead of dog shit catalog sony got on their service.

Australia, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay. So far and now Canada it's absolutely US and UK next

It really sucks I got a email I almost spat out my dinner last night 215 AUD for deluxe per year (no cloud stream) it's disgusting

There's no way I can justify 215 per year for deluxe I'll be taking it back to essentially and using the money saved to buy what I want in fact I might cancel the entire service I rarely game online these days unlike COVID times

raWfodog9d ago (Edited 9d ago )

I've never even been tempted to get anything higher than Essential. I'm perfectly fine with the lowest tier possible.

goken9d ago

I am in Malaysia. Essential is going up to RM285/year, which is like USD$70.
Around 5 years ago I subscribed for PS plus for only RM90, which i stacked up a bit, it has a couple more years to go.
Anyway, for me the new price would be over 3 times of what i last paid…

gold_drake9d ago

its ridiculous.
iv waited to sub again literally until a few months ago, so i dont have to pay as much.

its rly getting to a point, well for me personally, where subbing aint worth it anymore, or for a full year atleast not

cause lets he honest, theres alot of trash in those tiers. ha.

Profchaos9d ago (Edited 9d ago )

100% agree and let's be honest if I take the cost of the sub I could buy pretty much everything I am actually interested in and no ongoing fees.
There's better games coming lately but it's not like those don't go for under 20 on sale

gold_drake9d ago

right?

the sub definitely has its moments, but those are far and between

Oblivion Remastered Breaks 4 Million Players in 4 Days

Bethesda Game Studios writes: We are so grateful to the over 4 million of you that have already ventured into Cyrodiil with Oblivion Remastered. Thank you!

Obscure_Observer16h ago

Congrats goes to Todd and everyone at Bethesda and team Xbox for another huge milestone!

Hopefully after this huge success, Phil might greenlit New Vegas Remastered powered by UE5 as well.

Fingers crossed!

lukasmain13h ago

I wish for, at the very least, maybe Fallout 3 remaster? I mean the success of the show proves that not just hardcore gamers are ready for a great updated Fallout game. I believe it could potentially be even more successful than the Oblivion remaster. But I do like your idea of a New Vegas UE5 , because I actually never played that. Bethesda are better under Microsoft, I agree with you now after this "remaster". It's much cheaper and faster to do something like this for an old classic game. Reminds me of when Capcom started doing that with RE2. Gamer goodwill became skyhigh for Capcom. Fingers crossed indeed

--Onilink--1h ago

F3 Remastered already came out on the court documents, so unless it was cancelled, which sounds unlikely as it would the best they can hope to have to match any releases of the TV show since F5 isn’t coming out any time soon.

That said, I do agree that if this has proven to be a hit and I don’t see why F3 wouldn’t be if it gets the same level of treatment, they will probably want to do more

anast14h ago(Edited 14h ago)

It's on GamePass. According to Steam DB: it has a 190k peak, which is not close to 4 mil. It didn't even reach 500k on Twitch stats and owner estimations are hovering around 1 mil or less.

Well done, despite not getting exact sales, this is still great news because the budget for this and the development time wouldn't have been much at all when compared to a full 6 or 7 year development window and the cost that would entail. So it does seem like a great success and even better when you consider that they shadow-dropped it without paid marketing. Hope this team is already past pre-production on another "remaster" of another classic, I'm personally hoping for Fallout 3 remaster

Microsoft realised how stupid they had been and delayed following Sega's example.
There you go MS, worldwide lots more people own PS5 or PC than Xbox. You got the money you're desperate for.

To be truly Sega, don't bother releasing a new console. Just focus on software.

"To be truly Sega, don't bother releasing a new console. Just focus on software."

MS will continue to release new consoles as they´ll continue and make tons of money out PC, PS5 and Switch 2 as well.

Gamers on other platforms will happily pay full price for amazing Xbox games while we get everything day one on Game Pass.

It´s a win win for everyone.

And? The game is in Early Access and Sims 3 has like a million DLC that people have sunk an ungodly amount of money into since 2009... Why even bother with this comparison?
