PS5 Animated Backgrounds Quietly Added by PlayStation for Select Users

Sony has quietly added PS5 animated backgrounds to select users, and it features first-party PlayStation games.

This has been the case for months, literally since they added the welcome tab.

No these are new animated backgrounds for Stellar Blade, Horizon, Demon Souls, Ratchet, etc.

I think I coincidentally found this yesterday after my PS5 triggering two system errors upon booting and it looked weird after the anniversary theme was removed, so I went digging and found some animated backgrounds.
May have been there for years!

Sony also took away my animated backgrounds that I paid money for on my PS4. Loved my little zen waterfall I had going on. After i had to do a fresh system install bc of a storm power outage, I tried to re-download it.. and just gone from existence.

You still have them on your ps4.

Nope. Reread my comment.

Should have done a back-up and you wouldn't have lost them. Reading the terms of service says that PS is under no obligation to host content on PSN forever. So, back-up is the smart option as PSN will respect your licenses, basically indefinitely.

The future is here
add by future, I mean ps3 era

Truly the peak of PlayStation menu designs, features, and single player games.

SimpleDad54d ago

It only took them 5 years to do it.

VariantAEC53d ago

PS5 launched November 2020. It is April 2025. 1 month plus 4 months is 5 months. 5 months plus 4 years is still less than 4.5 years and animated backgrounds were added months ago already with the Welcome Hub's full release on PS5.

So, it took a little over 4 years.

Jesus Christ, people really love you at parties.

@SimpleDad lol, yea looking through his comment history, this seems to be his schtick, playing the N4G lawyer. Whatever floats his boat, man. 😂
