Nintendo Confirms Switch 2 Uses DLSS and Ray Tracing, but Is Being Super Vague About the Details

Nintendo has confirmed the Switch 2 uses DLSS and ray tracing technology, but has yet to go into detail on how exactly, or show them off. And as for the GPU, Nintendo would prefer to focus on "the value that we can provide to our consumers."

DLSS is easy, but I don't believe ray tracing for a second.

It depends on the new technology it's using for raytracing to work. Maybe they found a way to use it. I'm curious myself

RT Shadows and lighting in Luigi's Mansion 4.

Luigi's Mansion 3 is still a graphical benchmark on Switch. As small as the individual rooms can be and how static the camera is, I'd bet this is where Nintendo can use RT for actual gameplay benefits.

Otherwise, things they faked before like the mirror rooms in Mario 64 and the giant reflective disk in Mario Sunshine could become more subtle use cases of it. Pikmin 4 was a UE game, maybe a Pikmin 5 can leverage Lumen for realistic shadows and reflections.

It will probably have extremely limited use, but the RT cores are definitely there, its up to the developers how they use it or not.

Ultimately you can still heavily customize how much RT you use (only use certain types of RT features, only for certain materials / different roughness cutoffs, only apply it to specific objects while others use screen space, reduced resolution, only reflect certain objects, limit the number of bounces, etc)

What version of DLSS? 3, 3.5, or 4? It would nice if Nvidia or Nintendo said something instead of all this bullshit.
