Nintendo will sell a cheaper Switch 2 in Japan, but Nintendo is implementing safeguards to prevent foreign buyers from getting it.
Nintendo is suing Genki, a Japanese accessory maker, for showing a replica of the Nintendo Switch 2 before its official announcement.
Won’t be surprised that they will blame Genki for missing the target sales. After all it’s Genki that decided to price the console and games
NE: "Today, we're examining the Switch 2's launch lineup compared to other Nintendo consoles to predict how release day will go."
I think Wild Heart S is the first failed Switch 2 port. Even Switch 1 can handle how ugly the port is.
"The Barranquilla-based (Colombia) indie games developer KillaSoft today announced with great joy and thrill that their stylish third-person noir stealth action-adventure "The Shadow Syndicate", is coming to PC (via Steam and consoles (PS5, Xbox Series X, and the Nintendo Switch) in 2026." - Jonas Ek, TGG.
which is crazy.
how about they do that for every country then? cause im cool with having either a emgkish only or german only option, if that means its 100 quid cheaper
It is nice they are doing this for their home country but I have a feeling $330-$350 should have been the real launch price.
Just shows you how much they make on a console.
some people are saying the high price is due to tariffs. my country didn't introduce new tariffs against japan, but still they charging it just as much as the US.
I totally get why people are upset about this, but we should keep in mind how popular mobile gaming is in Japan. The Switch is Japan's best-selling console, and domestic sales have always been a high priority for Nintendo. They're doing this to keep the market dominance in their home market, against mobile gaming, and other handhelds (they're probably keeping in mind the rumors of PS6 having a handheld component, idk). Still, does seem like Nintendo is being Nintendo and giving the shaft to other markets. Guess we'll see how it all plays out for them.
