Nintendo Expects You To Pay For Its Switch 2 "Welcome Tour" User Guide

It was revealed today that the Nintendo Switch 2 will launch alongside a paid app which teaches you all about the new console.

Nintendo might be unique In how they go about things but I'm sure we can all agree that the majority of the time it's a pretty shitty unique path they always seem to take.

The switch 2 is expensive for how weak it is and the inferior games are way too expensive. Nintendo will soon charge for user manual of the console. The steam deck which is better than the switch 2 was launched 3 years ago and it was cheaper than the switch 2. When games were raised to 70 dollars there was a massive uproar about it but now Nintendo with their inferior games wants to release them at 80 and 90 dollars for some games. If people accept these prices without much push back then gamers can just expect these prices to be standardize across the gaming industry or be more expensive

I don't think it's over priced when positioned next to the steam deck or rog but I want to see more games how they perform if they are on par with those systems and the battery life is good I'll be happy

I wouldn’t say it’s expensive for what it is, but it definitely could have been priced better, and the original Switch still selling for $349 OLED or not is ridiculous.

I think Nintendo did great with the revel, the overall execution of the Switch 2, and the software looks good.

However, they could have done better with the console pricing, and have completely fumbled when it comes to pricing games. It’s going to sell out Day 1, but they’re on their way to 3DS 2.0.

The way they made Pokemon not have a national dex in the games,foretold what they are willing to do to get money, before you could have all the Pokemon in a single cartridge and they thought "hey we could charge for people to keep their Pokemon collections, those that they've been collecting over the years" so, yeah, Nintendo can fucc off

The saving grace for me was GC games and the system price being a little lower than I thought. Mario Kart does look great.

Well the upgrade path prices can't go over what the price difference is between the price of the Switch 1 and 2 versions...right?

If breath of the wild switch 2 is 70 then the upgrade price is 10...but if breath of the wild switch 2 is 80 then you have a 20 upgrade path.

Also worth mentioning according to Verge... upgrades "at no additional cost if you have a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscription."

In my opinion the welcome all should have been the free pack in at minimum in a world where Sony pushed astrobots playroom as a pack in Nintendo wanting you to buy it's game that shows you how to use the controller is a bad call

Nintendo expects you to personally travel all the way to the manufacturer to assemble your own Switch 2 console, pay a convenience fee for being able to assemble it, and extra for the privilege of being able to take it out of the country. Once you reach home it won't work until you pay a yearly subscription to make the console region free, but that's an extra 30 on top of the 50 you'll pay for all the drip feeding of older generation games. Every year companies just find ways to nickle and dime consumers more.

Switch already has features paywalled, which was save file backups. In the past we used to be able to save our games locally and back them up to protect them, Switch stopped that, and now they charge a yearly fee to do so. They have no shame, and because of that, I have no problems pirating Switch games.
