Final Fantasy IX 25th anniversary website launched

Square Enix has launched a special website in celebration of Final Fantasy IX’s 25th anniversary, which it will celebrate on July 7.

I’m super excited

I’m hoping IX sticks more to the classic style rather than the VII Remake. We don’t need something super ambitious.

I will say it’s such a shame VIII got nothing when it turned 25 last year. Wasn’t even expecting a new game but some new merch would have been nice. It didn’t even get a special anniversary logo, just a quick mention on Square Enix’s social media page. They treat VIII like s*** when it’s the one that could benefit most from a remake.

@andy no the junction system shouldn't be adjusted, that was the fun of the game. It allowed to break the game if you so desired, drawing magic should be changed, cause that's the tedious and boring part of it.

Thing is it ruined any challenge of the game (even if it was optional to do it) but yeah the draw system was the worst part of the game

Final Fantasy VIII is not my favourite Final Fantasy but it has Triple Triad which is incredible, so that alone makes a remake of VIII worthwhile.

I don't want a remake, especially not one like FF7R, if they had to do it, please do it on a budget (FF7 Ever Crisis graphics are fine). I want the game on one disc with minimal changes to the story. If I remember right, there's supposed to be a novel and anime to go with the IX anniversary celebration. I wouldn't mind some memorabilia or merch either.

Final Fantasy IX was my first Final Fantasy game, so yeah I have great memories for this game. I hope we see the remake soon maybe on Wednesday during the Switch 2 reveal. I gotta start saving money for 25th anniversary merch.

They need to absolutely nail the art style for the FFIX remake. I've got no idea how they're going to pull it off, I'd personally stick to prerendered backgrounds with story book aesthetic but I have a feeling it will be full 3D.
I'm nervous because FFIX is my favourite in the series so my expectations are way too high.

I keep forgetting someone made this, but this would be perfect for FFIX, that level of graphics is fine since it's more about the art style than realism.
