There Is No Good Reason To Play As Yasuke In Assassin's Creed Shadows

The samurai is too overpowered in Assassin's Creed Shadows to be interesting.

Play on harder levels. This seems like looking for something to complain about

PanicMechanic34d ago

Or maybe I’ll play a better game, like ghost of Tsushima

kpgs34d ago

then go play it, why are you here?

LoveSpuds34d ago

If you are so keen on games set in feudal Japan (I assume you are if you are commenting here), surely you have already played Ghost?

I know it's the done thing to dunk on Ubi these days, and I know there is no room on N4G for nuance, but you can love Tsushima AND you can enjoy AC Shadows.

RaidenBlack34d ago

Typical unneeded N4G biased comment

Bathyj34d ago

It seems to be the general consensus.
Every review I've read has basically said the same thing.

Lexreborn234d ago

Imagine, having two unique characters with two different styles altering the way you play and you complain about options.

Servbot4134d ago (Edited 34d ago )

Style 1: stealth, combat, parkor, speed
Style 2: combat, slow, have to swap to style 1 to do some content

You don't see the issue?

Gamers: This game is TOO HARD. Why is it too hard?
Also Gamers: Wow, this character makes the game too easy. Why can't the game be harder?

My brain = broken. Complain because it's too easy or too hard. Just shut up and play the game. Is that so hard? Do you need to make a terrible article that basically says I don't know how to play at a harder difficulty?

Servbot4134d ago

Being REQUIRED to swap characters and sit through a loading screen to actually do ubitowers ISN'T DIFFICULTY. IT'S TEDIUM.

ZeekQuattro34d ago

Basically Yasuke is modern AC and Naoe is classic AC. Shadows blends both and I don't have a problem with that. People are on here acting like there are PS3 GTA V level load screens in the game when you swap characters. 🤣

PRIMORDUS34d ago (Edited 34d ago )

Let me fix that title: There is no reason to play Assassin's Creed Shadows it's the same shit over and over, just that it looks better. How about releasing Beyond Good and Evil 2, oh it's not done I wonder why. It's because UbiShit keeps focusing Assassin's Creed non-stop. How about some new game IP's? None, not surprised coming from UbiShit.

Pergele33d ago

Let me fix that even more: There is no reason to play any Ubisoft game, it's the same boring repetitive shit over and over. Done.

PRIMORDUS33d ago

Exactly, they keep making the same shit over and over.

anast33d ago

BG&E 2 was going to be released as a live service. The backlash was crazy. After that they went dark on the game.

jambola34d ago

Liking his design or gameplay better is a plenty valid reason

enkiduxiv34d ago

It’s weird that this game is getting so much positive attention. It’s just another reskin of origins. Save 70 dollars and go play any one of the other ones for the exact same mediocre experience.

Assassin's Creed Shadows (XS) Review | VGChartz

VGChartz's Stephen LaGioia: "For my money, Shadows could have been better served stripping away or limiting a few more peripheral gimmicks (e.g. the Hideout and Kuji-Kiri meditations), while adding more combat abilities and nuance, which are a bit thin here. The game mixes in a slurry of elements that both work and don’t quite work from Valhalla, Mirage, and Odyssey, while sprinkling in a few new things that don’t really land as a whole (like scouts used for map details and resources, which need to be replenished). The result is a game that shines brightly in terms of presentation, as well as some combat and progression elements, but overall feels like a “jack of all trades” and a Samurai master of none."

Assassin's Creed Shadows' success shows that the threat of negative campaigns is overblown

As solid sales numbers for the new Assassin’s Creed stack up, other companies should take note of how little the manufactured controversy around it mattered.

It matters. There are hidden variables that can effect the outcome.

gigoran82d ago

So criticism = manufactured controversy? Ok now I see. What you're saying is that Ubisoft is the darksydephil of game developers. That's all you had to say.

abstractel2d ago

From the article: "...the target of an online outrage campaign over its choice of protagonist characters..." but the article they link to has more to do with how Ubisoft is monitoring their own developers and what they can say in social media. Seems misleading. I played 100 hours of this game and my criticism of the game, while I enjoyed it, had nothing to do with the protagonists. It was the lack of discovering new things, too much meaningless loot (as usual with Ubisoft), the lack of impact the bosses has (with one of Yakuse's storyline's boss fights being the exception), bad acting, and story overall wasn't very good. Combat was fine and it is a beautiful game. Ghost of Tsushima, however, was better in every regard. Can't wait for Ghost of Yotei.
