Cyberpunk 2077 Sequel to Aim for Most Realistic Crowd System Ever Seen in a Video Game

Cyberpunk 2077 sequel aims to create the most realistic crowd system ever seen in a video game, with a focus on NPC interactions and realism

thorstein117d ago (Edited 117d ago )

Suuuuurre. Already making promises when they didn't even fulfill the promises the last time. The game didn't even have roles (classes).

CDPR: we layoff, we make millions, we lie.

Christopher115d ago (Edited 115d ago )

They never said it would have roles (classes). They said it would have more story-relevant points that can evolve a character.

thorstein115d ago

Cyberpunk table top RPG has roles. They shoehorned in a skill tree.

Christopher115d ago (Edited 115d ago )

@thorstein: They never said it would be the PnP TTRPG. They are using it as inspiration and that's what they've done, with the creator of the TTRPG loving what they've done. Stop creating fake issues. Ridiculous.

MisterWoogie115d ago

Dude the finished product now is excellent. They've had a bit of a comeback I'd say. Just hope they've learnt their lesson is all!

TrueRican69115d ago

You're complaining if you don't have the money to buy the game don't f****** buy it and plus it fix the game and made it into a great product I can't say the same but other company never fix they games. So I happy with this team they learned they lesson.

Army_of_Darkness115d ago

Who even pays attention to the crowd anyways?! Just give us good glitch free performance on day one first and foremost, then and only then you should focus on this realistic crowd crap.

Christopher115d ago

People about Avowed: "Ugh, the people in the city don't do anything or react to stuff."

People about Cyberpunk: "Who even cares about realistic crowd crap."

There's no winning when these opinions are so much in conflict that whatever they do they will piss off someone. So, I say they just do what they want and live with it.

DafunkyRebel115d ago

Im gonna go ahead and dismiss your nonsense since the final product is good and CD has proven themselves capable of pulling it off with the right azimuth. There is enough rebuilt goodwill to trust them to make the sequel without repeating the same mistake

Profchaos115d ago

In the end I got the game I wanted and I'm very happy with its better than just leaving it to rot like so many other games like anthem as an example

thorstein115d ago (Edited 115d ago )

I never said the game was bad. I said CDPR didn't fulfill their promises. And they did layoff many people and they do lie.

We're never going to get what was in the initial teaser trailer. We never got the metro until recently. We never got a "living Night City," corrupt cops, investigations of crimes we committed, immersive NPC AI, emergency crews showing up, multiple expansions, and strong RPG elements (you don't get to pick the role you play.)

And they did fix Anthem but everyone had moved on by then. But I don't give them credit because that cash grab was so broken, but it even it didn't get delisted from online stores.

gold_drake117d ago

just focus on a bug free launch.

Lightning77116d ago

Here we go again. Y'all haven't learned nothing in the past 5 years haven't y'all?

JEECE116d ago

Hopefully they can target underpowered consoles with CPUs that can't possibly handle that crowd system.

Cyberpunk 2077's 2.3 Update Opens a Pandora's Box the Game Can't Close

Cyberpunk 2077 is getting a new update after developers previously stated it no longer would, bringing the possibility of more still to come.

I'm hoping the update fixes their poor FSR 3 implementation, and add FSR 4. FSR 2 looks better than FSR 3 in CP2077 by a wide margin. On my 7900XT I just use XESS if I want to add RT at custom 3K resolutions. Already beat the main game, but half way through Phantom Liberty expansion. I would like to get back to it later on this month.

anast1d 14h ago

I have more hours in this game than any other. I would happily put more into it.

MastaMold23h ago

I second this and a PS5 PRO patch too please.

RhinoGamer8823h ago

I finished it and had a blast, wish there was a new game + option.

Cyberpunk 2077 on Switch 2: a cutting-edge game translates well to Nintendo's console hybrid

Few games among the Nintendo Switch 2 launch line-up can match Cyberpunk 2077 in putting the system through its paces. It's a staple of our PC benchmarking suite for good reason: the open world design is a solid stressor for any CPU, while its effects-heavy battles challenge GPU resources as well. This Switch 2 release has clearly been a big undertaking for developer CD Projekt Red too, who produced the port in-house with unique optimisations for Switch 2's ARM-based architecture. It's also remarkably the Ultimate Edition of the game, with both the core adventure and the more taxing Phantom Liberty expansion bundled in - an extra portion that proved too demanding to justify a last-gen console release, and was instead restricted to PS5 and Series X/S, and yet here it is running on Switch 2.

To cut to the chase, Switch 2 offers a truly viable way to enjoy Cyberpunk, either in a portable format or docked under a TV. However, CDPR has shot for the stars in its ambition to include Phantom Liberty as well, and it's here that Switch 2 hits some technical limits - with frame-rates struggling as we explore its newer Dog Town region. Still, that aside, there's a lot to admire in the game's engineering for Nintendo's new console overall, and how competitive it is in comparison with other consoles.

I am happy for CDPR. Their hard work paid off because the Switch 2 version are always in the top 5 Switch 2 launch game sales.

jznrpg2d ago

Not much launched with it besides ports so it should be expected I guess.

OMNlPOTENT1d 22h ago

I mean.. what did the PS5 launch with? One exclusive in Demon's Souls?

repsahj1d 12h ago

@Omnipotent
Not just PS5, Series X has zero launch games. XD

DivineHand1252d ago (Edited 2d ago )

This may be one of the weakest launch lineups Nintendo has ever had, with Mario Kart being the only first party game, but Cyberpunk 2077 will definitely give you tremendous value for your money.

One tip I can give people who have never played the game is to first read books from the cyberpunk subgenre. This will allow you to appreciate the story much better. If you find yourself asking which life path is the best to take at the start of the game, in this case it is Corpo, Streetkid, and Nomad. You likely don't know enough about the genre, and certain things will fly right over your head. While it is not mandatory, the game will be 10 times better if you read or listen to some books first.

Some books I have enjoyed in that genre are:
Cyber Dreams by Plum Parrot,
Stray Cat Strut by RavensDagger
Tower of Somnus by Cale Plamann
Mist Runner by Nicholas Searcy

If you can only read or listen to 1 book, then I recommend Cyber Dreams by Plum Parrot. It is the closest thing to Cyberpunk 2077.

anast2d ago

Or play the TTRPG which is was based on.

Profchaos2d ago

I'd say its stronger than the switch as Mario kart has a broader appeal than zelda.

It was also a better launch line-up than the gamecube and possibly wii u

DivineHand1252d ago

@Profchaos the WiiU likely had the worst of the bunch which is partly why the system failed.

The gamecube had smash bros melee that launched 2 months after the initial release and that is one of the best games to release on that console. I assume every gamecube owner would be happy with that game.

The switch had Breath of the Wild which is still considered one of the best games of all time. I remember playing through that game and unlocked every equipment, upgraded every equipment to the max, found all the dragons, defeated all the Lynels and completed all the shrines in that game before defeating Ganon at the end. It was a good time from start to finish and made up for the lack of other launch games.

I just think that if they had us waiting that long for the switch 2, they should have more than just 1 or 2 first party games ready within the launch window. If we had at least gotten a trailer for a new 3D mario I would be extremely happy. With the current switch 2 lineup, there is no draw to go out and get it immediately like a new console launch should make you feel. Right now the main appeal is to provide a quality of life update to play switch 1 games.

OMNlPOTENT1d 20h ago

There is also a book directly related to the universe of Cyberpunk 2077, it's called "No Coincidence". I thought it was a pretty good read.

Kornholic1d 10h ago

"One tip I can give people who have never played the game is to first read books from the cyberpunk subgenre."

If somebody gave me this advice before I started my first Cyberpunk 2077 playthrough, I wouldn't have even bought the game in the first place.

DivineHand1251d ago

True because I wouldn't have played it either. It's just that I read those books after playing the game and thinking back, a lot of the motivations of each character started making more sense.

I just wanted to through that tip out there to recommend someone try to understand the cyberpunk genre more before playing. They will get more out of the game.

badz1492d ago

40 vs 60 fps is not something that I would even consider calling "competitive"

1nsomniac2d ago

Then you don’t know enough about the subject you’re trying to talk about..

badz1492d ago

hahaha...what? are you serious right now? the Switch 2 is not a PC where you can just change the graphical settings to get to 60fps...Unless CDPR released a patch to make it run at 60fps, that is.

As of right now, it's stuck at 40fps at best and that too with DLSS from quite a low base res already. so yeah...it's not competitive.

Profchaos2d ago

100% 40 isn't a arbitrary choice its a strategic choice because it opens up access to supporting technology on the console

Good-Smurf2d ago

DF are Nintendo's occasional bootlickers after that blatant Zelda games ad scandal.
Games like CP2077 are meant to be played on big console or powerful PC on a big screen.
Got to love how they're simp for full price purchase of 5-year-old game and still getting the worst version to play on.

1nsomniac2d ago

Wow you guys don’t let up for a second trying to blame DF for anything you can pick out the sky at any given moment. It’s embarrassing dude.

It’s always DF are bootlickers for Nintendo today, Microsoft yesterday, Sony last week. Make your mind up people… pick a side and stick to it. Sounds so stupid when you’re trying to make a point that some company is biased but that no one can make their mind up who the company is biased towards any given day of the week.

stoney1012d ago

Yep, the amount of hate they get is ridiculous. The funny thing is if you actually look at the comments on their early switch 2 videos people are slating them for not giving it enough praise and constantly comparing it to ps4.

ZycoFox2d ago

They had a "Sponsored by Nintendo" video not long ago, it literally says so at the start.

I trust them for showing frame rate analysis and they're decent for that, but their overall review for Nintendo is overrated, Mario Kart is the same game it has always been.

Really the only one that got close to topping DKR was MKDS.. So it's no wonder it's often ranked as the highest rated Mario Kart.

repsahj1d 16h ago

It's obvious that you're not following DF. In the weeks leading up to the Switch 2's release, didn't you know that DF had so many articles downplaying the Switch 2 because they believed it was far from being more powerful than the PS4?

Phantom Liberty is a part of the game. If it can't run it. It can't run the game.
