PS6 Launching In 2028 "Feels Right," Former PlayStation Boss Says

2030. There's nothing wrong with this console era. Build a powerful PS6. PS5 is great but 7 years after the 4 and Sony compromised on drive space.

And PS6 can't just be PS5 Pro+

Lack of exclusives, failed games and especially stupid gaas is what's wrong this gen....is rather they get time to fix it but geez what a shit show of a generation.

I also think 2030 is fine but switch 2 and competition might force Sony to release early. This gen is disappointing in terms of Quality games. PS2 and PS3 were the best

The switch 2 isn't competition to proper consoles, it is its own thing.

Yea 2028 does feel right. Given how this gen went, 2027 feels abit early for a totally new PS.
But then again, Xbox is trying to launch their next gen earlier. Rumors were if PS chooses 2027, they'd go for 2026. If 2028 then Xbox is 2027.
Anyways, 2027 will start new gen nevertheless.

Yeah I don't think Sony even have Xbox in mind any more when thinking about new gens, they know xbox is dead, a new console isn't going to save Xbox so they don't need to stress about it.

If that's fall 2028, that's roughly another 4 years which sounds good. 2026 would be way too early.

First party has been a bit slow in the middle but I have enjoyed this generation. I’m playing as many games as I ever have even though my time is limited. First party is going to pick up this year and I bet the end of the gen will be great as usual

We're reaching diminishing returns on graphics at console price points. The longer we wait for PS6, the further away we can move from getting a "PS5 Pro Pro".

Take your time, this generation has had too slow of a start, I wouldn't mind waiting until 2029.

It'll be 2027 or 2028, any later and the PS5 is going to be struggling on new engines hard
Given it looks like we will be relying on PSSR more I think a major CPU upgrade would be better and a minor GPU one. That's why frame rates struggle with a cheap ass CPU. And you'd still get great resolution with how good PSSR will be after years of testing

It will probably be 2027. The last 2 console releases had a 7 year gap.

I think it's time for me to to go PC lol , the best versions of games I wanted to played this gen are on PC and/or eventually came to them. Even if ps6 comes out in 2028 all games will be cross platform for at least the first 2-4 years . Also paying to playing online need to go away , nothing worse then it crashing out . I just can't think of any major innovations that are even needed aside from a slight boost of a Pro
